Abstract: A display device is provided in embodiments of the disclosure relating to the field of display technology, the display device including: a liquid crystal display panel; and an organic electroluminescent display panel provided opposite to the liquid crystal display panel and configured to function as a backlight source for the liquid crystal display panel; the liquid crystal display panel has a display region defined therein, and comprises a plurality of pixel units arranged in an array and located in the display region, each of the plurality of pixel units comprising a plurality of sub-pixel units; the organic electroluminescent display panel has a light-emitting region defined therein and opposite to the display region, and comprises a plurality of light-emitting units arranged in an array and located in the light-emitting region, each of the plurality of light-emitting units comprising a plurality of light-emitting sub-units; and an area of each of the plurality of sub-pixel units is smaller than an area of a corresponding one of the plurality of light-emitting sub-units at least overlapping therewith.

Abstract: The present subject matter relates to display control in display devices. In an example implementation, a display control layer for a display device comprises a first set of channels filled with a first electrochromic material to control a view angle of a display from the display device, and a second set of channels filled with a second electrochromic material to control absorption of blue/ultraviolet (UV) light from the display device. Each adjacent pair of channels of the second set sandwiches a channel of the first set.

Abstract: There are provided a dimmer that can solve practical problems including burn-in and easily change a transmittance to external light and a video display device using the same. A dimmer includes a stack of two or more light control layers that change a transmittance to incident light by controlling an applied voltage in the incident direction of the incident light. A video display device includes a video generator that generates picture light; a video projector that projects the picture light as a virtual image in the field of view of a user; the dimmer disposed on the opposite side of the projecting side of the video projector to the user for adjusting the light quantity of external light to be entered to a user's eye through the video projector; and a light controller that controls the dimmer suitable for the luminosity of external light detected at an external light detector.

Abstract: A display panel, a fabricating method thereof, and a display device are disclosed, which relate to the field of display technology. The display panel comprises an array substrate, an assembly substrate, and a liquid crystal layer arranged between the array substrate and the assembly substrate. The display panel has a totally transmissive mode and a totally reflective mode. An electrochromic reflective layer is arranged on a side of the array substrate close to the liquid crystal layer, and is configured to reflect external ambient light in the totally reflective mode and to exhibit a transparent state to completely transmit light in the totally transmissive mode.

Abstract: A display device whose power consumption can be reduced is provided. Alternatively, the aperture ratio of a display device is increased. The display device includes a pixel having a first subpixel and a second subpixel. The first subpixel includes a first coloring layer and a first transistor, and the second subpixel includes a second coloring layer and a second transistor. At least regions where channels might be formed in semiconductor layers of the first and second transistors are positioned to overlap with the first coloring layer. The first coloring layer is likely to absorb light with a shorter wavelength than light absorbed by the second coloring layer. The semiconductor layers, electrodes, wirings, and the like included in the transistors transmit visible light.

Abstract: A variable-color region (106) of an information-presentation structure extends to an exposed surface (102) at a surface zone (112), normally appears along it as a principal color, and includes impact-sensitive color-change structure (132) and duration-extension structure (242). A segment (142) of the impact-sensitive color-change structure responds to an object (104) impacting the zone at an object-contact area (116) by causing an impact-dependent portion (138) of the variable-color region to temporarily appear along a print area (118) of the zone as changed color materially different from the principal color if the impact meets threshold impact criteria. The print area closely matches the object-contact area in size, shape, and location. The duration-extension structure responds to the impact by causing the impact-sensitive color-change structure to deform along an internal deformation area (288). This causes the time duration of the impact-dependent portion appearing as the changed color to be controllably extended.

The print area closely matches the object-contact area in size, shape, and location. The color-change capability helps, for instance, in making in/out calls in sports such as tennis.
