Abstract: A system and method for bulk encoding medical items in a tracking system in a healthcare facility comprises attaching to each of a plurality of identical medical items a blank RFID tag. When activated simultaneously, the serial numbers of all RFID tags on all the identical medical items are read and their serial numbers are associated with the pre-stored characteristics of the medical item in a data base. The RFID tags are blank in that they include no human-readable data concerning the medical article to which the RFID tag is attached. A data mining system and method are provided for mining the database.

Abstract: Systems, methods and tools for transporting and monitoring baggage by leveraging hardware and software based techniques to schedule time slots for the arrival of the baggage at pre-scheduled waypoints or final destinations. Computer systems manage route scheduling, baggage transportation, tracking and verification using a multi-tiered architecture to ensure each bag arrives at the scheduled waypoints and final destination. Baggage security includes tracking, via one or more chaperone devices and/or tagging the baggage using active or passive tagging systems. Tracking baggage allows the system to identify exceptions in the routing pattern of the baggage before the error may be realized by employees of the transportation service or the customer arriving at the final destination. Identifying exceptions to the routing pattern sooner may increase the likelihood of successfully backtracking to the last known whereabouts of the baggage and re-routing the baggage to the final destination in a timely manner.

Abstract: A vehicle detection system includes an RFID reader, a detection device, and an ECU. The RFID reader transmits a transmission signal including at least a signal that supplies power. The detection device includes a second antenna unit that mutually transmits and receives a signal to and from the RFID reader, an RFID detection circuit that is activated using the signal that supplies power included in the transmission signal received by the second antenna unit as driving power and that outputs a detection signal to the second antenna unit, and a switch circuit that switches an electrical connection portion between the second antenna unit and the RFID detection circuit to a contact state or to a non-contact state according to a state inside the vehicle. Abstract: The present invention provides a system and accompanying method for deriving spatial sequence of multiple objects on an interactive surface. The system includes an interactive surface and multiple physical objects. Each object is placed within a finite three-dimensional space on the interactive surface, and embedded with an RFID tag. The interactive surface further includes an RF module, an antenna, a host, an adjustable matching network, a channel switch, and an output module. The host instructs the channel switch to change the parameters of the components of the adjustable matching network to generate a series of resonance frequencies. And the host instructs the antenna to read the RFID tags at the series of resonance frequencies, with an effective reading range of the antenna changing as the resonance frequency changes. The host receives information of multiple sets of RFID tags in multiple readings, derives a spatial sequence of the objects placed on the interactive surface, and provides the output signal or action through the output module. The invention could be applied to the Tower of Hanoi game.
