Abstract:
A keypad security device (100) comprises an enclosure having a viewing aperture (114) and an access aperture (152). The enclosure at least partially surrounds a keypad such that the keypad is viewable through the viewing aperture (114) and accessible by a user through the access aperture (152). The viewing aperture includes a security pane (116) arranged so as to permit the keypad to be viewed clearly from the point of view of a user of the keypad and to prevent the keypad from being viewed from the point of view of a person other than the user, wherein the security pane (116) is curved and comprises a flexible refractive lens.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for providing transaction services, in particular a computer-based transaction machine, such as an ATM, and a method for providing transaction services using said transaction machine. One or more software applications interact with middleware software through functional interfaces that are hardware independent but provide functionality which is implemented in a manner adapted to the capabilities of the particular hardware implementation. Objects provided for standard transaction functions are independent of the interface between the user and the transaction machine, said interface being customizable. The resulting transaction machines are typically combined into networks and these networks may readily be combined to form an Extranet.
Abstract:
An automated banking machine (10) includes a cash dispenser (54). Servicing the machine is facilitated through use of a portable diagnostic article (98) which enables the controller to access diagnostic data stored in memory and which provides data indicative of the significance of the diagnostic data. A portable article of computer readable and writable media (314) is also operative to cause the computer to gather data concerning the banking machine and record it on the media through a drive (312). The data gathered is then analyzed by a separate analysis computer (324).
Abstract:
A cash dispensing automated banking machine that operates in response to data read from user cards includes a cash dispenser, keypad, and a card reader. The card reader is operative to read data bearing records such as user cards that include financial account information. At least one computer in the automated banking machine is responsive to a keymap specified by at least one markup language document and is responsive to configuration data accessed by the automated banking machine, to selectively enable a subset of keys of the keypad to be capable of providing inputs operative to cause the automated banking machine to carry out a portion of a banking transaction.
Abstract:
A cash dispensing banking transaction machine that operates responsive to data bearing records includes a card reader that reads identifying data from a user card. The machine dispenses cash from a cash dispenser for a financial account without causing the card reader device to read data from a card corresponding to the financial account, when a determination indicates that a voice of the user included in an audio input signal to audio input device corresponds to a particular recognized user stored in a data store in correlated relation with the financial account.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device (10) comprising a housing wherein a communication station is accommodated, said communication station comprising an inner antenna (12), wherein the housing comprises a wall (14) which has a transversal outer communication surface (16) which is generally vertical and which is fitted close to the inner antenna (12) and which is permeable in relation to electromagnetic waves, wherein the inner antenna (12) can communicate electromagnetically (E) in a remote manner with a data medium (18), more particularly in the form of a card, when a user places the data medium (18) against the outer communication surface (16), characterized in that the communication surface (16) comprises means (22) for maintaining the data medium (18) in a pressed position in relation to the communication surface (16).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cashless transaction processing system implementing a VEND ASSIST mode of operation to effectuate a cashless vending transaction. The VEND ASSIST mode allows a computing platform 802 to oversee, control, and authorize by way of a system 500 the vend selection and sale price of a user selected vend item prior to fulfilling the user's request. The cashless transaction processing system includes a system 500 and a computing platform 802. The system 500 initiates a vending session when certain commands from an interconnected computing platform 802 are received or in response to presentation, by a user, of valid payment identification data. Computing platform 802 data communicates a VEND APPROVE or VEND DENY response to a system 500 initiated REQUEST VEND APPROVE data communication. A vend cycle is then initiated or preempted as appropriate.
Abstract:
An automated banking machine operates to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records. The machine includes a card reader that reads card data from a card of a machine user. The card data is linked in a data store to both a customer's financial account and a cell phone assigned to that customer. In response to the user's transaction request, contact data for the assigned cell phone is determined from the data store using the read card data. A transaction security code is then sent to that cell phone. The transaction is allowed to proceed only if the user inputs the sent security code to the machine within a predetermined amount of time. Transaction allowance may also be based on a real time determination that the assigned cell phone is physically located proximate the machine.
Abstract:
An automated banking machine (10) is operative to carry out financial transactions and includes a user interface (15). The user interface includes a card reader (16) which is operative to read data on user cards which identify user's financial accounts. A fascia of the machine includes a keypad (404, 438, 458) through which users input confidential data. Covers (400, 422, 430) prevent unauthorized persons from viewing confidential inputs to the keypad. Alternatively, movable panels (462, 464) are movable to prevent unauthorized viewing of confidential inputs. Alternatively a keypad cover is selectively collapsible to prevent digit access. A visual indicator is operative to indicate to a user that keypad inputs are being encrypted. Disinfecting techniques may be used to disinfect manual contact surfaces of the machine.
Abstract:
An advertising terminal (12) and a network of advertising terminals are described. The advertising terminal may be an ATM (12b). The ATM (12b) comprises a transceiver (80) for wireless communication with portable devices (26,28) in the vicinity of the ATM (12b). The ATM (12b) is operable to create a profile of persons in the vicinity of the ATM (12b) by detecting portable devices such as PDAs (26) and cellphones (28) that have a wireless communications facility (26a,28a) and identifying the owners of the portable devices. The ATM is also operable to display an advertisement appropriate for the created profile of persons.
