Abstract:
A terminal apparatus for auto pairing and a remote control apparatus and method thereof are provided. The terminal apparatus includes an IR receiving unit configured to receive an IR signal including first identification information of an external apparatus from the external apparatus, a radio frequency (RF) communication unit configured to perform wireless communication with the external apparatus which transmit the IR signal including the first identification information, a storage unit configured to store a pairing list including identification information of at least one external apparatus, and a control unit configured to control the RF communication unit to perform pairing for wireless communication with the external apparatus according to whether or not identification information of at least one external apparatus in the pairing list corresponds to the received first identification information.
Abstract:
An intermediary between a remote control device and a remotely controllable device implements identification and/or authentication. The intermediary is, e.g., a node or set of nodes within a head end of a cable network service provider. A remote control device at a customer premise sends a command intended to control a remotely controllably device which is also located at the same customer premise. The customer premise includes a network interface, e.g., a cable modem, which has associated identification information. The command and the associated network interface identification information are communicated to the intermediary, e.g., via a cable modem. The intermediary accesses a subscriber record corresponding to the location based on the network interface identification information. The intermediary identifies the device to be controlled, e.g., a particular set top box and/or authenticates the remote control device. A command is sent via the network to the device to be controlled.
Abstract:
In order to limit the use of generic remote control devices, the invention relates to a system comprising a remote control device and a security device, both sharing a common key, algorithms or protocol specific to a pair formed by the remote control device and the security device. The remote control device comprises means to send wirelessly data to a receiver comprising the security device. The remote control device being paired with the security device is characterized in that data sent by the remote control device towards the receiver is specific to the pair formed by the remote control device and the security device, said remote control device comprising encryption means and a memory to store a specific key, said data being encrypted by the encryption means with the specific key, the security device comprising decryption means and a key corresponding to the specific key to decrypt the received data.
Abstract:
A method for policing and managing the operation of a flying, unmanned aircraft in the event of usurpation of control of, malfunction of, or ill-intentioned use of, this aircraft includes the steps of (a) detecting inappropriate operation of the aircraft; (b) transmitting a takeover command to the aircraft to interrupt control of the operation of this aircraft by a first pilot and relinquish control of the aircraft to a second pilot; and (c) transmitting control commands to the aircraft to control its operation by the second pilot, until the need for alternate pilot control of the aircraft has ended or until the aircraft has landed safely.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for controlling usage times for at least one device, including the steps of: (a) identifying a device to be controlled; (b) utilizing the device by a user; (c) tracking a device usage value for the device as the user utilizes the device; and (d) initiating an action sequence based upon the device usage value. Also disclosed is an apparatus for controlling usage times for at least one device.
Abstract:
Described herein is a remote control including a saucer-shaped housing, a removable faceplate, and a processor. The saucer-shaped housing may be circular in plan view and sized to be graspable by a user in one or two hands. The upper side of the housing may be convexly shaped and support a keypad with a plurality of selectable buttons. In some embodiments, the remote control includes a biometric sensor for receiving biometric information from a user of the remote control and communicating the received biometric information to a processor configured to recognize the user based on the received biometric information. The remote control and/or the processor may be configured to enable a recognized user to access viewing control options provided via the hand-held remote control device.
Abstract:
A method of controlling an installation formed by a plurality of home automation equipment items linked to a building, and handling therein, depending on the type of home automation equipment item, thermal and visual comfort functions, such as heating and air conditioning, natural ventilation, lighting, solar protection functions, and/or security functions, such as closure and/or alarm functions, the home automation equipment items communicating over one and the same home automation network. A programmable remote control implementing the control method.

Abstract:
According to one embodiment, an electronic apparatus includes a display process unit and a data transmission process unit. The display process unit is configured to display connection confirmation information, which is known to a user and is transmitted from a device via a network during a connection establishing process for establishing connection between the device and an electronic apparatus, on a display screen of the electronic apparatus. The data transmission process unit is configured to start a process of transmitting the data that is to be kept secret to the device via the network in response to a predetermined user operation which indicates that the user has confirmed that the connection confirmation information displayed on the display screen is correct.
Abstract:
A control device being a control device communicating with a controlled device to control the controlled device includes: a first memory to store first authentication information for authenticating the controlled device; a second memory to store second authentication information for making the controlled device authenticate itself; a determination unit to compare third authentication information sent from the controlled device for specifying the controlled device with the first authentication information; a calculator to perform calculation processing on the first authentication information or the third authentication information using the second authentication information to generate a calculated value; a transmitter to transmit, when the determination unit determines that the first authentication information and the third authentication information are the same, the calculated value to the controlled device; and a memory controller to update the first authentication information.
