Abstract:
Systems and techniques for managing multiple call processing services by establishing a connection to a service control point; rendering a call management profile maintained by the service control point in substantially real time using a Web-enabled interface, the call management profile indicating two or more call processing services currently available to a customer; manipulating the call management profile by specifying at least one of a sequence for prioritizing the call processing services and schedule for providing the call processing services at different times.
Abstract:
Method, system, and computer program product for building a voice prompt menu for a collection of portlets by acquiring a list of portlets, building a voice menu comprising voice menu items to activate each of the portlets, acquiring a portlet profile containing customization information, and adapting the voice menu using the customization information in the portlet profile. The web portlet may define custom characteristics for consideration by the voice aggregator, for instance, in the positions for its menu items in the hierarchy of the voice portal menu.

Abstract:
A voice processing system is provided in which sets of engines running on a plurality of servers are configured differently from one another. The sets of engines may be configured to achieve different trade-offs between performance of a task and resources required to perform the task. In the voice processing system, a task routing server is provided that assigns different sets of sub-tasks to different sets of task engines. The number of engines used to perform a task and the number of engines in each set are adjusted. By adjusting the parameters settings for the set of engines based on the type of application, the particular requirements of the application, or the nature and importance of the subtasks, for example, advantages such as improvement of resource utilization and the hardware and software costs reduction may be obtained.
Abstract:
A voice web browser system includes a telephone, an access system coupled to a TCP/IP network, a telephone system coupling the telephone to the access system, and a speech-to-text system for “reading” text that had been sent over the TCP/IP network to the telephone user. Preferably, the access system receives TCP/IP packets from web pages accessible over the TCP/IP network and parses the HTML code of the web pages into text and non-text portions, such that the text portion can be read to the telephone user. A computer implemented process for obtaining web page information over a TCP/IP network includes implementing a connection of a telephone user to an access system that is coupled to a TCP/IP network, detecting a selection of at least one navigation command by the telephone user to access a web page accessible over the TCP/IP network, and navigating over the TCP/IP network to the web page in response to the navigation command, resulting in a verbal communication of at least some information derivable from the web page to the telephone user. A method for retrieving e-mail that was sent over a TCP/IP network includes calling from a user telephone to an access computer coupled to a TCP/IP network, providing user identification to the access computer, retrieving e-mail via the access computer that was sent over the TCP/IP network and addressed to the user, and reading the e-mail to the user of the user telephone utilizing a text-to-speech system.
Abstract:
A system and method for personalizing an interactive voice output of a voice service based on determinations about the caller or call, the output containing information derived from on line analytical processing (OLAP) systems, where content stored in the database can be readily obtained by a requester on the fly and in a personalized, interactive manner. The system and method include a call server for receiving an incoming call from a caller, an inference module for determining information about a voice service to be provided to the caller, a control module related to the information determined and for facilitating the interactive voice broadcast with the caller, and a personalization module for passing determined information to the control module.
Abstract:
A method to access and use an integrated web site from a mobile environment is disclosed. The method includes communicating voice activated commands, using voice recognition technology, to an integrated web site via a wireless communication network and a global informational network. The integrated web site comprises a network-based media station integrated with a global search engine. The voice activated commands are used to access the integrated web site, initiate the transmission of streaming digital media content from the media station to a wireless mobile network terminal, and perform key word searches of the global informational network using the global search engine.
Abstract:
A voice user interface for accessing data is provided. This method and system receives a set of variables from a voice recognizer processing a voice request for information in a backend system; processes an integration method using the set of variables returned from the recognizer and an unstructured grammar based on entries in the database fields of a backend system; requests backend data from the backend system using the integration method and the set of variables as applied to the unstructured grammar; and receives backend data from the backend system responsive to the integration method used to request the backend data. Processes are described that add data associated with a database to increase the accuracy of interacting with the database through a voice interface and create the unstructured grammar for improved voice recognition capabilities.
Abstract:
A system (10) and method (40) for providing audible caller information to telephone service subscribers is presented. The system (10) includes a pre-processor (28) that converts textual caller information from a first data format to a second data format suitable for text-to-speech synthesis (TTS). The pre-processor (28) can be incorporated in a service node/intelligent peripheral (SN/IP) (24) in an advanced intelligent network (AIN). In this configuration, the pre-processor (28) can be used to convert caller-ID with name database entries into a predetermined TTS format. The TTS formatted information can be provided to a TTS synthesized (30) included in the SN/IP (24). In conjunction with a switching service point (SSP) (20), the pre-processor (28) can provide a talking call-waiting feature to subscribers with significantly improved intelligibility.
Abstract:
A method for providing voice telephony services can include the step of receiving a call via a telephone gateway. The telephone gateway can convey call identifying data to a resource connector. A media port can be responsively established within a media converter that is communicatively linked to the telephone gateway through a port associated with the call. A call description object can be constructed that includes the call identifying data and an identifier for the media port. The call description object can be conveyed to a telephony application server that provides at least one speech service for the call. The telephony application server can initiate at least one programmatic action of a communicatively linked speech engine. The speech engine can convey results of the programmatic action to the media converter through the media port. The media converter can stream speech signals for the call based upon the results.
