Abstract:
A system for connecting transaction services to an ATM (10, 500) that includes a network (20). A user interface service (12) and a lookup service (22) are in operative connection with the network. Transaction services such as a printer service (16), card reader service (18), and cash dispenser service (14) are also in operative connection with the network. These transaction services are operative to register with the lookup service and to upload a service proxy to the lookup service. The user interface service is operative to locate transaction services on the network by invoking a remote lookup method on the lookup service. The lookup service is operative to return service proxies that match the type of service that is required. The user interface service is further operative to invoke methods of the service proxies that remotely control the functionality of the transaction services on the network. The user interface service is further operative to register events with the service proxies for notification when certain events on the services occur.
Abstract:
An automated banking machine (10) includes a cash dispenser (54). Servicing the machine is facilitated through use of a portable diagnostic article (98) which enables the controller to access diagnostic data stored in memory and which provides data indicative of the significance of the diagnostic data. A portable article of computer readable and writable media (314) is also operative to cause the computer to gather data concerning the banking machine and record it on the media through a drive (312). The data gathered is then analyzed by a separate analysis computer (324).
Abstract:
Vouchers and methods for providing vouchers configured to assist in distinguishing unauthorized duplicate or counterfeit vouchers are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a voucher can include a substrate, a first indicia on the substrate, and a thermally responsive second indicia on the substrate. At least one of the first indicia and the second indicia can indicate a value of the voucher. A system which assists in detecting alteration of value documents or transmissions, such as a coin counter voucher is provided. Voucher information such as the voucher value is included in the voucher in an encrypted or otherwise modified form. When the voucher is presented for redemptions, the encrypted information is decrypted and compared to independently available voucher information. Failure of the information to match indicates that the voucher has been altered or should otherwise be further checked.
Abstract:
A first frame member has an accommodating section adapted to accommodate a rolled sheet at a rear side of the first frame member. A print head is operable to perform printing with respect to a part drawn out from the rolled sheet. A second frame member is provided with the print head and supported on a front side of the first frame member so as to be movable between a first position and a second position. A locking mechanism locks the second frame member at the first position. A release lever releases the locked state of the second frame member when the release lever is pulled toward the second frame member. User access with respect to at least the accommodating section is allowed when the second frame member is placed in the second position.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an electronic money terminal which alone can handle multiple types of electronic money services. Since the electronic money terminal has a storage unit for storing a plurality of settlement processing programs each corresponding to one electronic money service, a selection unit for allowing a user to select an electronic money service that is used for settlement processing, and a control unit for causing a settlement processing program to be executed, which corresponds to the electronic money service selected by an input unit, the single electronic money terminal can perform settlement processing using the multiple types of electronic money services. As a result, since the number of the electronic money terminals in the entire system can be reduced, costs required to introduce the settlement systems corresponding to the electronic money services can be reduced.
Abstract:
A self-service device, such as a cash machine, bank statement printer and/or information or transaction terminal, comprising an operator control panel which has a plurality of components is provided with an apparatus (7) for monitoring the weight of at least one of the components of the operator control panel in order to be able to identify manipulations which are carried out on the components.
Abstract:
A service providing apparatus for providing a service to a user of a user interface card (10) is disclosed. The card (10) is configured for insertion into a card read device (1) that has a receptacle (4) to receive the interface card (10). The interface card (10) comprises a substrate (12) with indicia (14) formed thereon. The apparatus also comprises a central processing unit for receiving a service identifier and data stored on the card (10), from the read device (1). The data is related to a user selected indicia (14), wherein the central processing unit is configured to provide a service. The service is identified by the service identifier.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a transactional device comprising a station (2) capable of performing a transaction, and an equipment (32), for setting up a wireless communication network, with one or more mobile terminals (34), based on a connection protocol, as well as a communication with said station (2). The equipment (32) is configured with a perimeter (36) selected to cover a specific zone, proximate to said station (2), while the connecting protocol is configured to enable initial identity information transmitted by a mobile terminal present in said zone to be exchanged against a unique temporary code, such exchange being followed by launching of a background function enabling part at least of a transaction to be prepared based on said identity information, and so that the station (2) is capable, upon presentation of the unique temporary code, of recovering then completing, if required, and validating the transaction.
Abstract:
A method of performing a send money transfer transaction through a financial services institution includes storing transaction details on a data base, wherein the transaction details include a desired amount of money to be sent; establishing a code that corresponds to the transaction details stored on the data base; entering the code into an electronic transaction fulfillment device in communication with the data base to retrieve the transaction details from the data base; and determining a collect amount based on the transaction details. A system for performing a send money transfer transaction is also disclosed.
Abstract:
An automated banking machine (12) is operative to conduct transactions in response to HTML documents and TCP/IP messages exchanged with a local computer system (14) through an intranet (16), as well as in response to messages exchanged with foreign servers (20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 96) in a wide area network (18). The banking machine includes a computer (34) having an HTML document handling portion (76, 80, 82). The HTML document handling portion is operative to communicate through a proxy server (88), with a home HTTP server (90) in the intranet or the foreign servers in the wide area network. The computer further includes a device application portion (84) which interfaces with the HTML document handling portion and dispatches messages to operate devices (36) in the automated banking machine. The devices include a sheet dispenser mechanism (42) which dispenses currency as well as other transaction devices. The device application portion communicates with a device interfacing software portion (64) in the banking machine through a device server (92) in the intranet. The device server maintains local control over the devices in the banking machine including the sheet dispenser. The banking machine operates to read indicia on the user's card corresponding to a system address. The computer is operative to connect the banking machine to the home or foreign server corresponding to the system address, which connected server operates the banking machine until the completion of transactions by the user.
