Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Techniques described herein provide timing advance validation for secondary cell (SCell) activation. Prior to receiving a SCell de-activation message associated with a SCell, a user equipment (UE) may determine a TA value for uplink transmissions to the SCell, and the UE may determine a first signal quality metric associated with wireless communication between the UE and the SCell. The UE may receive the SCell de-activation message, and, at a later time, may receive a SCell activation message. The UE may determine whether the TA value determined prior to receipt of the SCell de-activation message is valid for the wireless communications between the UE and the SCell based on a difference between the first signal quality metric and a second signal quality metric determined after receipt of the SCell activation message.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) message indicating initiation of a random access procedure, the PDCCH message having a dedicated format with a set of fields for indicating one or more parameters associated with the initiation of the random access procedure. The UE may transmit a first random access message of the random access procedure, the first random access message being associated with the one or more parameters. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit capability information that indicates a first quantity of carriers that the UE is capable of using simultaneously. The UE may receive a configuration for a second quantity of activated carriers. The UE may switch one or more carriers used for multi-carrier transmission based at least in part on the configuration and the capability information. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The techniques described herein relate to control signaling for multiple radio access technology (RAT) carrier aggregation. A user equipment (UE) receives downlink control information (DCI) for a first RAT (e.g., 5G) and/or a second RAT (e.g., 6G), in a downlink control channel of the first RAT. The UE determines whether the DCI is associated with the first RAT or the second RAT by monitoring different search spaces, different control resource sets (CORESETs), different radio network temporary identifiers (RNTIs), different DCI lengths, different indication fields of the DCI, different capability parameters, and/or wake-up signals, that are associated with the downlink control channel communicated via the first RAT. The UE 115 communicates via the second RAT based on receiving the DCI.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, an indication of a set of reference signals for measurement during a small data transfer (SDT) session associated with the UE. Accordingly, the UE may transmit, to the base station and during the SDT session, a channel state information report based at least in part on measuring the set of reference signals during the SDT session. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a network entity may receive, via a first frequency carrier, a first message of a multi-stage grant that includes the first message and a second message, wherein the multi-stage grant schedules a communication, wherein the first message indicates first information associated with the second message of the multi-stage grant, and wherein the first frequency carrier is associated with a first radio access technology (RAT). The network entity may receive, via a second frequency carrier, the second message of the multi-stage grant, wherein the second message indicates second information associated with the communication, and wherein the second frequency carrier is associated with a second RAT. The network entity may communicate, based on the second information, the communication. Numerous other aspects are described.
