    Abstract: A UE may identify a first set of preserved resources of one or more sets of preserved resources. An aircraft-borne device may identify a first set of preserved resources of one or more sets of preserved resources. The first set of preserved resources may be associated with a time domain starting point, a time domain duration, and a frequency domain resource allocation. The UE may transmit, to an aircraft-borne device and the aircraft-borne device may, receive from the UE, over at least part of the first set of preserved resources, a synchronization signal and a first payload message. The first payload message may include a first emergency message and may be transmitted and received via one of a first PUSCH, a first PSSCH, or a PSCCH. The aircraft-borne device may forward, to a base station or another aircraft-borne device, at least the first emergency message.

    Abstract: A method of wireless communication, by a user equipment (UE), includes receiving, from a network device, a trigger command initiating a hash-based random access procedure. The trigger command includes a target hash value and one or more rules for selecting preambles. The method also includes selecting, based on the trigger command, one or more random access channel (RACH) occasions (RO) for potential preamble transmission. The method further includes calculating at least one hash value in response to the trigger command based on computational resources of the UE. The method also includes transmitting a preamble on the at least one selected RO based on the at least one hash value and the target hash value.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A network entity (e.g., a base station or reader) may transmit an initial access trigger message (e.g., modulating a continuous wave transmission using amplitude shift keying (ASK)), and the trigger message may include an indication of a type of passive user equipment (PUE) or a PUE use case (e.g., high priority/latency-critical PUEs or low priority/latency non-critical PUEs). A receiving PUE may harvest energy from the initial access trigger message for transmitting an initial access response message including an identifier for the receiving PUE. The receiving PUE may transmit the initial access response message (e.g., on one or more initial access resources) using the harvested energy if the trigger message indicates the PUE's type of PUE or PUE use case. In some examples, the receiving PUE may ignore triggers for different types of PUEs or PUE use cases.

    Abstract: A method for wireless communication at a first wireless device and related apparatus are provided. In the method, the first wireless device communicates a first reference signal with a second wireless device based on a first frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW). The first wireless device further communicates a second reference signal with the second wireless device. The second reference signal is based on a second FMCW and has a second frequency bandwidth. The second frequency bandwidth is smaller than the first frequency bandwidth of the first reference signal, and the second reference signal has a frequency location based on the first reference signal. The first wireless device further communicates data with the second wireless device based on a channel estimation for a channel between the first wireless device and the second wireless device based on the second reference signal.

    Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for radio frequency (RF) sensing by a base station operating in a time division duplex (TDD) mode and having a first antenna panel and a second antenna panel. The base station performs RF sensing and DL communication in a first sensing and DL communication mode in which the first antenna panel transmits DL symbols and the second antenna panel receives, as RF sensing signals, reflections of the DL symbols transmitted by the first antenna panel. The base station also performs RF sensing and DL communication in a second sensing and DL communication mode in which the second antenna panel transmits DL symbols and the first antenna panel receives, as RF sensing signals, reflections of the DL symbols transmitted by the second antenna panel. In some aspects, a characteristic of the channel is determined based on transmissions in both the first and second sensing and DL communications modes.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure involve multiplexing the transmission of communications signals and sensing signals at the resource element level. A frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) signal and plurality of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signals may be transmitted within an air interface frame structure having a plurality of resource elements, each resource element defined over a symbol duration in a time domain and a subcarrier in a frequency domain. The FMCW signal occupies a first plurality of resource elements and comprises a FMCW waveform repeated in the time domain and transmitted during a first symbol, over a first plurality of subcarriers of the air interface frame structure. The plurality of OFDM signals occupy a second plurality of resource elements in the air interface frame structure and are transmitted during the first symbol, over a second plurality of subcarriers of the air interface frame structure.
