Abstract:
A machine, such as a phase change or solid ink printing apparatus, includes at least one ink stick and a coupler external to the ink stick. The ink stick has an electronically-readable memory device attached thereto, with the memory device having stored therein electronic data associated with the ink stick. The coupler is configured to read the electronic data from the memory device. The data in the memory device may include identification data, anti-arbitrage variables, usage data, maximum use values, and performance data related to the ink stick, and the coupler and memory device may employ various means for communicating this data. Also, communication between the coupler and memory device facilitates a method for determining a quantity of marking material in the machine.
Abstract:
An interactive education system for teaching patient care to a user is described. The system comprises a patient simulator; a virtual instrument for use with the patient simulator in performing patient care activities; means for sensing an interaction between the virtual instrument and the simulator, and means for providing feedback to the user regarding the interaction between the virtual instrument and the simulator. In one aspect, the system includes a maternal simulator, a fetal simulator, and a neonatal simulator.

Abstract:
The timepiece includes a case formed of a back cover and a middle part closed by a glass arranged above a dial with an analogue or digital display, delimiting the housing of a watch movement, said glass being surrounded by two external rotating top and bottom bezels, superposed on a shoulder of the middle part. It is characterized in that the two bezels and the shoulder have identical or similar non-circular or non-symmetrical contours in relation to the center of the dial in the superposed position, and in that the bezels can occupy a first rest position in which concealed parts of the shoulder and/or concealed parts of the bottom bezel are made visible after rotation of at least one bezel.
Abstract:
An interface antenna is positioned between a tag antenna associated with a tag and a reader antenna associated with a reader. The interface antenna receives an electromagnetic carrier signal transmitted by the reader antenna and causes an increase in intensity of the electromagnetic carrier signal at the location of the tag antenna, thereby increasing the distance over which the tag can communicate with the reader. Where the tag is attached to a packaged object, the interface antenna may be included in the package to allow wireless data communication between the tag and a reader external to the package. For example, the interface antenna may be attached to a label on the package. At least a portion of the interface antenna may be formed from a conductive ink applied to the label and/or the container. The object may be a module, also known as a customer replaceable unit (CRU), and the tag may be configured as a customer replaceable unit monitor (CRUM).
Abstract:
An apparatus (10) includes an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (14) that includes a first panel (160) with at least one first vent opening (142). A second panel (144) secured to the first panel (160) includes a base portion (150) and a door portion (156). The base portion (150) includes at least one second vent opening (200) and is folded to position the door portion (156) between the first panel (160) and the base portion (150). The door portion (156) has an open condition positioned away from the vent openings (142, 200) permitting inflation fluid to vent through the vent openings. The door portion (156) has a closed condition positioned between the first and second vent openings (142, 200) blocking inflation fluid from venting through the first and second vent openings. The door portion (156) is movable to the closed condition when the protection device (14) deploys. The door portion (156) has a generally triangular configuration with a base merging with the base portion (150) of the door panel (144) and first and second edge portions (264) that extend away from the base and converge at a terminal end (224) of the door portion.
Abstract:
Antitumor compounds have the five membered fused ring ecteinascidin structure of the formula (XIV). The present compounds lack a 1,4-bridging group as found in the ecteinascidins. They have at the C-1 position a substituent selected from an optionally protected or derivatised aminomethylene group or an optionally protected or derivatised hydroxymethylene group.
Abstract:
An inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (14) includes a single sheet of material (50) comprising a front panel (40) and a rear panel (42), each having a substantially circular configuration. The sheet (50) has a central portion (52) where peripheral portions of the front and rear panels (40 and 42) merge with each other. The sheet (50) is folded along the central portion (52) to position the front and rear panels (40 and 42) overlying each other. A perimeter connection (110) connects the front and rear panels (40 and 42) along the periphery of the front and rear panels.
