Abstract: A wellness evaluation system may determine, based on data generated by a first set of sensors powered by one or more batteries of one or more ear-wearable devices, that a user of the one or more car-wearable devices is currently in an environment that includes human-directed communication signals. If so, a second set of sensors may be activated such that the one or more batteries provides an increased amount of power to the second set of sensors. Furthermore, the wellness evaluation system may determine based on data generated by the second set of sensors, whether the user has satisfied a target level of a wellness measure. If the user has not satisfied the target level of the wellness measure, the wellness evaluation system may perform an action to encourage the user to perform one or more activities to increase an achieved level of the wellness measure.

Abstract: A hearing instrument may generate vibration, via a vibration unit, in response to determining a notification for a user of the hearing instrument. The hearing instrument may obtain a motion signal from one or more sensors indicative of the vibration generated by the hearing instrument. The hearing instrument determines, based on the motion signal, whether the user has touched the hearing instruments while the vibration unit is generating the vibration. The hearing instrument, responsive to a determination that the user has touched the hearing instrument while the vibration unit is generating vibration, executes a command.

Abstract: A system including one or more hearing instruments configured to be worn in, on, or about an ear of a user. The system is configured to: determine that the user may prefer either of a first or a second processing mode; apply the first processing mode and the second processing mode to generate a first output audio signal and a second output audio signal; cause one or more hearing instruments to output sound based on the first output audio signal or the second output audio signal; receive an indication of user input that identifies a selected output audio signal from among the first output audio signal and the second output audio signal; and apply a selected processing mode corresponding to the selected output audio signal to generate a third output audio signal; and cause the one or more hearing instruments to output sound based on the third output audio signal.

Abstract: One or more processing circuits may obtain sensor data that includes first sensor data generated by a first plurality of sensors of one or more hearing instruments worn by a user and second sensor data generated by a second plurality of sensors of the computing device communicably coupled to the one or more hearing instruments. The one or more processing circuits may generate a notification and may determine, based on at least a portion of the sensor data, a. time period at which the user is available to interact with the notification. The one or more processing circuits may, in response to determining the time period at which the user is available to interact with the notification, output, during the time period, the notification.

Abstract: An ear-worn electronic device comprises a microphone arrangement configured to sense sound in an acoustic environment, an acoustic transducer, and a non-volatile memory configured to store parameter value sets each associated with a different acoustic environment, at least one of which is associated with an acoustic environment with muffled speech. A control input of the device is configured to receive a control input signal produced by a user-actuatable control, a sensor or an external electronic device. A processor is configured to classify the acoustic environment as one with muffled speech using the sensed sound and, in response to a signal received from the control input, apply one or more of the parameter value sets appropriate for the classification to enhance intelligibility of muffled speech.

An antenna structure of the hearing device is oriented such that a direction of an electric field (E-field) of a propagating electromagnetic signal generated by the antenna structure is directed non-tangentially with respect to the user at the location of the user's ear. The antenna structure includes an antenna disposed in or on the faceplate and a ground plane at least partially supported by the faceplate. A battery and electronic circuitry are disposed within the shell. The electronic circuitry is powered by the battery and is electrically coupled to send and/or receive signals via the antenna structure.
