A drive circuit includes a first transistor that is controlled to be in on or off state in response to a control signal, and outputs, in on state, a positive current which is input from a first operational amplifier connected with a drain of the first transistor to a semiconductor optical amplifier; and a second transistor that is connected with a source of the first transistor, and is in inverse on or off state to the state of the first transistor. The drive circuit also includes a negative voltage circuit that is connected to a source of the second transistor, and outputs, when the second transistor is in on state, a negative current to the semiconductor optical amplifier.

Electrolytic manganese dioxide characterized by having a surface sulfate (SO4) content of smaller than 0.10% by weight and a JIS-pH value, as measured according to JIS K1467, of at least 1.5 but smaller than 3.5, preferably at least 2.1 but smaller than 3.2 is provided. Preferably 3% to 25% in number of the fine particles of the manganese dioxide have a particle diameter of not larger than 1 μm. A battery provided with a cathode made from the electrolytic manganese dioxide as active material exhibits good high-rate discharge characteristics and good resistance to metal corrosion.

The ring system dedicated node apparatus is used in common with a part of the linear system dedicated node apparatus.

A novel lithium-manganese oxide composition suitable for use in lithium secondary batteries as an active material for positive electrodes, said oxide having a spinel type crystal structure, an Li:Mn molar ratio of 0.9-1.10:2.00, a mean Mn oxidation number of 3.40-3.60 valencies, and a BET specific surface area of at least 1 m.sup.2 /g, substantially all the primary particles of said oxide being less than 1 .mu.m; a process for preparing such an oxide and a lithium secondary battery containing such an oxide are also disclosed.

A lubricating oil composition comprising a base oil and, incorporated therein, a phosphoric acid ester, phosphorous acid ester, phosphoric acid ester amine salt or phosphorous acid ester amine salt, an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid compound, and an alkylamine compound and/or primary zinc thiophosphate, succinimide or perbasic magnesium or calcium sulfonate. The change with the lapse of time of the friction coefficient of this lubricating oil composition is small and the friction coefficient is stable, and the change of the friction coefficient by the change of the oil temperature is small. By dint of such excellent characteristics, this lubricating oil composition is especially valuable as a lubricating oil for an automatic transmission of an automobile.
