Abstract:
The present invention relates to protection films comprising an optical film suitably sized for an illuminated display device, the optical film having perimeter surface portions defining a central region. The protection film further comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive layer at the perimeter surface portions of the optical film. The optical film and/or pressure sensitive adhesive layer has been adapted such that the at least the central region of the optical film contacts the illuminated display device or the central region of the optical film is bonded to the illuminated display device by means of a self-wetting layer. The protection film may be preassembled or may be provided as a kit, the kit comprising an optical film and a double-faced pressure sensitive tape.
Abstract:
Presently described are coating compositions comprising a polymerizable resin composition and a non-ionic unpolymerizable surfactant. In some embodiments, the coating comprises greater than 10 wt-% of non-ionic unpolymerizable surfactant. In other embodiments, the coating composition comprises an an additive comprising a silicone group or a fluorinated group and a hydrophobic group. Also described are articles comprising the cured coating compositions. In one embodiment, an article is described comprising a cured coating wherein the cured coating exhibits a property of an initially visible simulated fingerprint reducing in visibility in 1-20 minutes. Also described is a method of determining the fingerprint visibility of a coating composition and a polyacylate composition useful as an additive. In another embodiment a coated surface is described comprising a polymeric organic material comprising a plurality of pores wherein a portion of the pores are interconnected and comprise a lipophilic liquid.
Abstract:
An optical film includes a plurality of alternating first and second polymeric layers, such that the first polymeric layers have a smaller average in-plane index of refraction than the second polymeric layers and the first polymeric layers have a glass transition temperature of at least 107 deg. C. The optical film may be a reflective polarizer. An optical stack includes a linear absorbing polarizer and the reflective polarizer disposed on, and bonded to, the absorbing polarizer. The reflective polarizer has an optical reflectance of at least 60% for a first polarization state and an optical transmittance of at least 60% for an orthogonal second polarization state. When heated at 105 deg. C. for 15 minutes, a difference in shrinkage of the reflective polarizer and the absorbing polarizer along the first and second polarization states is greater than about zero and 0.2%, respectively.
Abstract:
A film stack includes co-stretched first and second layers. The first layer is stained with iodine and has a glass transition temperature of at least 5° C. greater than a glass transition temperature of the second layer. The second layer has in-plane birefringence of less than 0.02 and a retardance of less than 100 nm.
Abstract:
A film stack comprises an oriented first layer comprising polyvinyl alcohol disposed on an oriented second layer comprising naphthalene dicarboxylate containing copolyester resin. The oriented second layer has in-plane birefringence Δnxy
Abstract:
Optical stacks are described. In particular, optical stacks including reflecting-absorbing polarizers and quarter-wave plates are disclosed. The optical core of the optical stack—which includes a reflecting-absorbing polarizer with at least one skin layer including polarizing dye—may be co-extruded or co-stretched.

Abstract:
Coating compositions are described comprising a non-ionic surfactant and an additive wherein the additive comprises a low surface energy group and one or more hydroxyl groups. The cured coating can exhibit reduced fingerprint visibility and low cellulose surface attraction. Also described are copolymer compositions useful as additives.
