    Abstract: An electronic device such as a head-mounted device may have gaze tracking sensors and other circuits that include packaged light-emitting devices. The packaged light-emitting devices may each include a light-emitting component such as a light-emitting diode or laser that emits infrared light or light of other wavelengths. The packaged light-emitting devices may have protection circuitry. The protection circuitry of each device may include one or more sensors such as a package integrity sensor, a proximity sensor, a photodetector for measuring emitted light intensity, a temperature sensor for measuring a temperature associated with the light-emitting component, and a current sensor. A control circuit such as an integrated circuit containing a comparator or other analog circuitry and/or a digital control circuit may gather information from one or more of the sensors and may control the light-emitting component based on the sensor information to prevent elevated light emission intensities.

    Abstract: A media system and a method of using the media system to reproduce spatial audio based on head-to-torso orientation, are described. The method includes determining a head-to-source orientation and a head-to-torso orientation based on head orientation data generated by a head tracking device. Determining the head-to-torso orientation includes determining torso movements based on movements of the head. The torso can be determined to move when the head movements meet a head movement condition, such as a predetermined angle of movement or pattern of movement. A binaural audio filter that is based on a head-related transfer function corresponding to both the head-to-source orientation and the head-to-torso orientation is applied to an audio input signal to generate an audio output signal. The audio output signal is played to accurately recreate spatial audio having sounds emitted to the user by a sound source. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

The housing structure may form a handheld device housing, a head-mounted housing, or other housing for the electronic device. Control circuitry in the electronic device may adjust the electrically adjustable optical layer. The control circuitry may reduce light transmission for the electrically adjustable optical layer to hide the optical components, may increase light transmission to reveal the optical components while the optical components are being used to receive light or to output light, and may otherwise adjust the electrically adjustable optical layer to exhibit a desired set of optical characteristics depending on the mode of operation of the electronic device.

    Abstract: An electronic device or other equipment may include an infrared-transparent one-way mirror. The infrared-transparent one-way mirror may be formed by a layer of material that is supported by a head-mounted support structure or other support structure. The support structure may support the layer of material so that the layer of material separates an exterior region from an interior region. Optical components in the interior region may be overlapped by the layer of material. The optical components may include visible light components such as a visible light camera and infrared components such as an infrared light-emitting device and an infrared light sensor. The optical components may operate through the layer of material while being hidden from view by the reflective appearance of the one way mirror from the exterior region.
