Abstract: A device for passing a needle and suture longitudinally through a target tissue includes a proximal jaw including a proximal recess and a proximal retention mechanism for releasably engaging a first end of a needle received within the proximal recess and a distal jaw movably coupled to the proximal jaw such that the proximal and distal jaws are longitudinally movable relative to one another. The distal jaw includes a distal recess and a distal retention mechanism for releasably engaging a second end of the needle received within the distal recess. The proximal and distal jaws are movable between a first state, in which the proximal retention mechanism is in a locked configuration and the distal retention mechanism is in an unlocked configuration, and a second state, in which the proximal retention mechanism is in an unlocked configuration and the distal retention mechanism is in a locked configuration.

Abstract: A medical device may include an elongate member including a proximal end and a distal end. The medical device may also include a rotatable member at the distal end of the elongate member. The rotatable member may be rotatably coupled to the distal end of the elongate member. The rotatable member may include a longitudinal axis, and may be configured to rotate about the longitudinal axis. The rotatable member may also include a gripping element configured to engage a layer of tissue. The gripping element may be configured to selectively couple at least a portion of the layer of tissue to a surface of the rotatable member, to restrict relative movement between the portion of the layer of tissue and the surface of the rotatable member, during rotation of the rotatable member.

Abstract: A medical system including an endoscope having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween is disclosed. The endoscope includes a port configured to provide access to the lumen. In addition, the system may include an actuation member slidably disposed through the lumen such that a proximal end of the actuation member extends through the port, and a distal end of the actuation member is operably coupled to an end-effector. The system may further include an actuation handle removably secured to the actuation member. In one embodiment, a portion of the end-effector has dimensions larger than a maximum dimension of the lumen.

Abstract: This disclosure provides design, material, manufacturing method, and use alternatives for medical devices. An example medical device may include a medical device for delivery of a surgical closure member. The medical device includes an elongate tubular member having a proximal end, a distal end and a lumen extending therein. The elongate tubular member is adapted to be delivered through the working channel of an endoscope and the lumen is adapted to receive a surgical closure member. The medical device also includes a tissue support extending from the distal end of the elongate tubular member. The tissue support includes a support surface and the support surface is adapted to support tissue as a surgical closure member engages the tissue thereon.

Abstract: According to one aspect, a medical system may include an instrument including an end effector for acting as a monopolar electrode. The end effector may be configured to be positioned in a body of a subject and emit radiofrequency energy towards a target area in the body. The medical system may further include a return electrode. The return electrode may be deliverable within the body proximate the target area and separately from the instrument and the monopolar electrode. The return electrode may be configured to contact tissue in the body proximate the target area and receive radiofrequency energy emitted from the end effector.

Abstract: A medical device comprising a syringe barrel, a plunger, and an injectable gel containing a coloring agent loaded in the syringe barrel. The injectable gel is sterilized by a sterilization process, such as an autoclaving process, while inside the syringe barrel. The injectable gel is adapted for injection between an upper mucosal layer and a lower layer at a target treatment site such that the upper mucosal layer separates from the lower layer and the upper mucosal layer is elevated. Also described herein are methods of forming the injectable gel.
