Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems for retransmission of wake-up signals from a first station to a second station over a wireless network are disclosed. In some aspects, a wake-up signal is encoded for transmission to the second station. While the first station is waiting for an acknowledgment of the wake-up signal from the second station, the second station may retransmit the wake up signal and/or encode a packet for transmission to a third station. In some aspects, whether the wake-up signal is retransmitted is based in part, on at least one of whether a number of timeout events for wake-up signals transmitted to the second station exceeds a maximum timeouts threshold, whether a number of wake-up signals transmitted to the second station exceeds a maximum wake-up signals threshold; or whether a maximum predetermined elapsed time since a first wake-up signal was transmitted to the second station is exceeded.

Abstract: Various embodiments are directed to a wireless access point capable of reserving a wireless communication channel by sending a quiet message to multiple legacy devices. The quiet message may include data identifying periodic quiet durations during which the legacy devices cannot access the wireless communication channel. The wireless access point may send a polling schedule to the multiple low power wireless devices. The polling schedule may include data identifying the periodic quiet durations. The wireless access point may then poll the multiple low power wireless devices during the periodic quiet durations. The low power wireless devices can exchange data with the wireless access point during the quiet durations. The quiet message sent to the legacy devices guarantees that the legacy devices will not use the specified channel during the quiet durations. Thus, communications with the low power wireless devices may occur without interference from the legacy devices.

Abstract: For example, an apparatus may include one or more processors comprising circuitry to cause a first wireless device to generate a wakeup packet comprising a payload first wireless device to generate a wakeup packet comprising a payload comprising at least one payload field modulated according to an On-Off keying (OOK) modulation, the payload field comprising a sequence of a plurality of codes to encode binary bit values of the payload field according to an encoding scheme having a code rate less than one, a first code of the encoding scheme representing a binary bit value of “0” comprising a first sequence of two or more bits comprising at least one bit having a value of “1”, and a second code of the encoding scheme representing a binary bit value of “1” comprising a second sequence of two or more bits comprising at least one bit having a value of “1”; and to transmit the wakeup packet to a second wireless device.

Abstract: A wireless communication system and method. The system includes processing circuitry, and a transceiver coupled to the processing circuitry. The processing circuitry includes logic to generate a wake-up packet addressed to another wireless communication system and including a legacy preamble portion and a wake-up portion, the legacy preamble portion modulated according to a first modulation rate. The wake-up portion is modulated according to a second modulation rate lower than the first modulation rate and includes information to wake-up the other wireless communication system. The transceiver system is to transmit the legacy preamble using a first transmit power level, and to transmit the wake-up portion using a second transmit power level higher than the first transmit power level by a predetermined amount such that an average received power of the wake-up portion is equal to an average received power of the legacy portion at the third-party station.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to an apparatus, method and other techniques for performing neighbor awareness network (NAN) discovery operations to discover a NAN cluster comprising one or more devices synchronized to a discovery window. In some embodiments, the NAN discovery operation may include communicating a cluster discovery message to join the NAN cluster, waiting a first time period for a response to the cluster discovery message, and joining the NAN cluster based on information in the response to synchronize to the discovery window when the response is received within the first time period. Various embodiments may also include disabling, by the processing circuitry, one or more operations to perform the NAN discovery operations if the response is not received within the first time period.

Abstract: Embodiments may define traffic priorities to facilitate transmissions for wireless communications devices. Many embodiments comprise MAC sublayer logic to generate and transmit management frames such as beacon frames, association response frames, reassociation response frames, and probe response frames with an access category for low power consumption stations or sensor stations comprising a parameter record defining a contention window that is the earliest contention window to open amongst contention windows defined for the access categories for traffic. In some embodiments, the MAC sublayer logic may store the parameter record sets for access categories in memory, in logic, or in another manner that facilitates transmission of the frames. Some embodiments may receive and detect communications with frames comprising the access categories and store a parameter set for one or more of the access categories in a management information base.

Abstract: A wireless communication device, system and method. The device includes a memory and processing circuitry coupled to the memory. The processing circuitry has a main baseband processor and a low power baseband processor, and further includes logic to cause the low-power baseband processor to process an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) signal allocated to a predetermined resource unit (RU) of an OFDMA packet as an OOK modulated signal including a sequence of bit values of 1 and 0. The sequence represents a low-power wake up (LP-WU) packet. The OFDMA packet has a plurality of RUs and is addressed to one or more destination OFDMA devices. The low power baseband processor is to decode an OFDMA symbol allocated to the predetermined RU as a bit value of 1, and to decode an absence of an OFDMA symbol from the predetermined RU as a bit value of 0. The logic is further to cause a wake-up of the main baseband processor based on the LP-WU packet.
