Abstract: A method for checking the status of field devices of a building-associated installation for transporting people includes the steps of: sending a command block of a status telegram from a monitoring unit via a series bus to a plurality of field devices; supplementing the status telegram by the field devices that are addressed by the command block; receiving the data block supplemented by the addressed field devices by the monitoring unit; and evaluating the status values in the supplemented data block by the monitoring unit.
