Abstract: A provided is a liquid crystal display device with a high definition screen and less color mixture. On an array substrate, a pixel is formed between the adjacent video signal lines, a color filter is formed within the pixel, a flattening film is formed on the color filter, a lower layer is formed on the flattening film, and an upper layer having a slit is formed on the lower layer with an interlayer insulating film interposed therebetween; and on the array substrate, an opposite substrate is arranged with a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween. When a distance from the top of the video signal line working as a light shielding film to the bottom of the liquid crystal layer is defined as d and a space between the centers of the video signal lines separating the pixel is defined as w, a relation of d≦0.3w is satisfied.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device having a second substrate and a first substrate that is placed so as to face the above-described second substrate with pixel regions aligned in a matrix is provided with: protrusions that are formed on pixel boarders and protrude from the second substrate on the liquid crystal side; first electrodes made of sidewall electrodes formed on sidewalls of protrusions and a lower end side electrode extending from the sidewall electrodes on the bottom side; and second electrodes made of a first linear electrode formed within a pixel region and a second linear electrode that is formed on the second substrate and faces the first linear electrode.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a TFT substrate, a CF substrate, and a liquid crystal interposed between the TFT substrate and the CF substrate, and drives the liquid crystal in a horizontal electric field. The TFT substrate includes a recess, and the CF substrate includes a columnar protrusion. The protrusion of the CF substrate is fitted to the recess of the TFT substrate so as to function as a stopper for preventing a positional gap between the TFT substrate and the CF substrate.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has a pair of wall electrodes facing each other, which is disposed on pixels on a first substrate, functions as one of pixel electrodes and a common electrode, and takes a posture of standing on the first substrate. Also, the liquid crystal display device has a center electrode that is disposed between the pair of wall electrodes, functions as the other of the pixel electrodes and the common electrode, has a convexity lower in height than the pair of wall electrodes, and makes a width in a direction along which the pair of wall electrodes faces each other gradually smaller toward the second substrate. According to this liquid crystal display device, since a vertical electric field can be prevented from being developed on an upper side of the center electrode, a transmittance of light can be improved.

Abstract: A display device includes a light source, a substrate transparent to a light source light, a pixel portion disposed at a side irradiated with the light source light, and a light extraction structure for extracting the light from the pixel portion to the outside. The light extraction structure includes a wall-like structure and a reflection layer. Abstract: Pixel electrodes and a common electrode are formed on a first panel. A wall is formed on the first panel. The wall includes a large insulating wall that is made of an insulating material and projects toward a second panel, and a wall electrode part that covers a side wall of the large insulating wall and functions as the pixel electrode or the common electrode. The wall includes a side surface on which an alignment film that defines an alignment of liquid crystal molecules of a liquid crystal layer is formed. The side wall of the wall is inclined with respect to a direction perpendicular to the first panel and the second panel. Abstract: A wall electrode IPS mode LCD has stabilized domain boundary. Signal and scanning lines extend in first and second directions, respectively, surrounding a pixel. A first wall structure has a first portion intersecting the first direction at a first angle, a second portion in the same direction, and a third portion intersecting the first direction at a second angle. The second portion has a first projection in the direction of a second wall structure, and a second projection in the same direction.
