Abstract:
Improved techniques for transferring media assets between a host computer and a media device are disclosed. The transfer of media assets between a host computer and a media device can be referred to as synchronization. According to one aspect of the invention, media assets being transferred can be formatted (e.g., rendered) in advance at the host computer and then delivered to the media device. According to another aspect of the invention, media assets can be grouped into collections and transferred on a collection basis. According to still another aspect of the invention, media assets to be transferred can be limited based on an amount of storage capacity available at the media device. According to yet another aspect of the invention, media assets of different media types can be transferred in accordance with different priorities.
Abstract:
An efficient oil based drilling fluid is provided that includes a polymer additive effective at imparting suspension characteristics without the presence of organophilic clays, while also providing filtration control. The fluid is shear thinning and has good fluid rheology over a broad temperature range. A preferred polymer for the additive is substantially linear and comprises mostly hydrophobic monomers and some hydrophilic monomers such as, for example, an emulsion copolymer of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and acrylic acid.

Methods and system for transferring images between devices are disclosed. For example, differently scaled images by a host device may automatically and/or selectively be transferred to a media player for display. In turn, appropriately scaled images may be transferred automatically and/or selectively to another display device for example a TV, camera or printer. The selectivity may occur either at the host level or at the player level.

Lifts for cargo carrying vehicles (e.g. trucks) and methods of lifting objects associated with such vehicles. The lift may include a deployment mechanism, a lift mechanism, and a lift deck. The deployment mechanism couples to the frame of the vehicle and deploys the lift mechanism to a position adjacent to the vehicle where the lift mechanism lifts the lift deck to a position that is substantially above the a cargo support surface of the vehicle. Preferably, the lift mechanism includes a pneumatic actuator sized to extend the lift mechanism about 84.″ A housing may also be provided on the vehicle for the lift. In one embodiment, the deployment mechanism is a slide mechanism and the lift mechanism is a scissor mechanism. A support bracket may be included to support the deployed lift mechanism. Additionally, a handrail may be provided on the lift deck.

An electronic circuit for generating a trapezoidal excitation waveform includes a controllable frequency source and a trapezoidal waveform generator. The controllable frequency source generates a source waveform that, upon energization thereof, has an initial frequency value, and decreases in frequency to a substantially constant frequency value a time period after energization. The trapezoidal waveform generator receives the source waveform and, in response, generates a trapezoidal waveform at least when the source waveform frequency attains the substantially constant frequency value.

A secure media device preferably includes a Universal Serial Bus (USB) Mass Storage Class (MSC) interface and a USB Human Interface Device (HID) interface. A storage media area is also preferably provided. The storage media is preferably divided into a secure and nonsecure area by arranging the storage media into multiple Logical Units (LUNs). The nonsecure area is preferably accessed in a conventional manner using a host USB MSC driver through the USB MSC interface on the storage device. A password dialog application can be located in the nonsecure area of the storage device. A preferred method of configuring a secured storage device includes dividing storage media of the storage device into a secure and a nonsecure area. A password for accessing the secure area is preferably set using a host USB HID driver and a USB HID interface on the storage device. A preferred method of accessing a secure area of a USB secure storage device includes verifying a password using a host USB HID driver and a USB HID interface of the storage device. Once the password is verified, the secure area is preferably unlocked. After the secure area is unlocked, the storage device preferably responds to a host USB MSC driver poll with an indication that the secure area is accessible. Until the secure area is unlocked, the storage device preferably responds to a host USB MSC driver poll with an indication that the secure area is inaccessible. The secure area of the USB secured storage device is preferably locked via firmware in response to a removal or other locking event. According to various aspects of this invention, therefore, there is preferably no need for a custom driver or software package to be installed on a host computer to facilitate access to the data contained in the secure media area.

An improved rotor assembly shroud includes at least one reinforcing flange on the upper surface of the shroud. The strength provided by the reinforcing flange allows for a smaller shroud thickness resulting in a net reduction of shroud mass. The lower shroud mass reduces the centrifugal stress on the rotor assembly blade during operation. The strength provided by the reinforcing flanges also significantly reduces the centrifugal bending stress on the shroud during operation. The shroud mass may be further reduced by tapering the shroud leading and trailing edges or, for shrouds incorporating a damper, by providing a damper cavity with a lower diameter surface defining an opening therethrough.

A sports videogame such as a baseball videogame allows a user to control the release time of a pitch in order to control the timing of a break on the pitched ball. Other implementations of a baseball videogame allow a user to put extra spin on a pitched ball to thereby create a greater break on the pitch or allow the user to play in a hero mode which enables the user to control a videogame character in a series of specific game play scenarios designed to allow the user to immediately control the videogame character to perform unique skills. Game play may also be customized by allowing the user to incorporate user-created images into screens of game play and/or allow the user to incorporate recorded audio messages into game play.

An ultra-efficient multilobal cross-sectioned fiber filter for chemical contaminant filtering applications is described. An absorptive chemically reactive reagent, preferably an acid or base and in liquid or an adsorptive chemically reactive reagent (an acid or base) in solid form, is disposed within longitudinal slots in each length of fiber. The reagent may be used alone or in conjunction with solid adsorptive particles which may also be utilized with the reagents in the longitudinal slots within the fibers. Reagents within the fibers remain exposed to a base-contaminated airstream passing through the filter. Base contaminants in the airstream, chemicals such as ammonium and amines (as well as particles), react with the acid reagent within the longitudinal slots of the fibers. As the contaminant and reagent react, the ammonium or amine becomes irreversibly absorbed (or adsorbed if reagent is a solid acid) to the liquid acid reagent and multilobal fiber.
