Abstract: A method of processing B-scans acquired by an OCT imaging system to generate correction data for compensating for axial displacements between B-scans caused by a variation in distance between the OCT imaging system and an imaging target, and to generate a reliability indicator indicative of a reliability of the correction data. The correction data is generated by determining, for each pair of adjacent B-scans, a respective indicator of an axial shift between respective representations of a common ocular feature in the adjacent B-scans. The reliability indicator is generated by: calculating values indicative of speeds or accelerations of the imaging target relative to the OCT imaging system when pairs of B-scans were acquired; where at least a predetermined number of calculated values exceed a threshold, setting the reliability indictor to indicate that the correction data is unreliable, and otherwise to indicate that the correction data is reliable.

Abstract: A system arranged to process an anterior-segment optical coherence tomography, AS-OCT, image comprising representations of portions of a scleral spur of an eye to obtain a geometric measurement of the eye, comprising data processing hardware arranged to: process the AS-OCT image to acquire respective locations in the AS-OCT image of the representations of the portions of the scleral spur of the eye in the AS-OCT image; and obtain the geometric measurement based on the acquired locations. The system further comprises an OCT imaging system which is operable to acquire the AS-OCT image and comprises a fixation target to fix a gaze direction of the eye during acquisition of the AS-OCT image such that an axis in the AS-OCT image corresponding to a pupillary axis of the eye is aligned with a direction in the AS-OCT image corresponding to an axial imaging direction of the OCT imaging system.

Abstract: An optical system comprising: an optical element having an optical property responsive to an applied signal, a variation of the optical property with the signal exhibiting hysteresis in a first range of values and no hysteresis in a second range of values of the signal; a memory storing data representing a hysteresis curve which indicates the variation of the optical property with increasing and decreasing values of the signal; and a controller which continuously controls the optical property by: generating, based on the stored data, a cyclic signal having a discontinuity in each cycle of the cyclic signal, and setting the discontinuity size in each cycle based on the stored data such that a part of the variation of the optical property with the cyclic signal coincides with a part of the variation represented by the stored data; and applying the cyclic signal to the optical element.

Abstract: There is provided an ocular image capturing device comprising an ocular image generating module operable to generate an image of a subject's eye based on light reflected from the eye, and a determination module arranged to determine whether or not at least a portion of a pupil region of the generated image is within a predetermined permissible region within the generated image, and to generate a signal that is indicative of the determination, the pupil region being an image of at least a portion of the pupil of the eye.

Abstract: A method of controlling an ophthalmic device operable to image an imaging region of a retina and concurrently illuminate an illumination region of the retina, the method including acquiring a reference retinal image by imaging a reference imaging area of the retina; designating a target in the reference retinal image; acquiring a current retinal image of an initial imaging region within the reference imaging area; moving the imaging region from the initial imaging region to a destination imaging region using the target and the reference retinal image, and acquiring a retinal image of the destination imaging region; illuminating the illumination region while the imaging region is the destination imaging region; acquiring one or more retinal images while the illumination module is being illuminated; and comparing a marker retinal image based on the one or more retinal image(s) with a comparison image based on the reference retinal image.
