Abstract: A processing aid for foam molding comprising a copolymer obtained by the polymerization of from 50% to 100% by weight total of one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of ethyl methacrylate and propyl methacrylate, and 0 to 50% by weight of other copolymerizable monomers, the copolymer having the following properties: (a) a reduced viscosity measured according to ASTM D2857 at 1 mg/mL in chloroform at 25° C. of greater than 8 dL/g and (b) a Tg equal to or less than 77° C. is provided.

Abstract: An impact modifier composition comprising one or more core/shell polymers which comprise a crosslinked core having from 98 to 99.9 wt % units derived from one or more acrylate monomers and from 0.1 to 2 wt % units derived from a crosslinker containing a vinylically unsaturated moiety with an acrylate free radical reactivity ratio from 0.8 to 1.2 and one or more non-acrylate vinylically unsaturated moiety(ies) with an acrylate free radical reactivity ratio(s) greater than 1, wherein the crosslinked core has a swell ratio in THF between 7 and 15 and a Tg equal to less than 10° C.; and a shell having from 20 to 100 wt % units derived from one or more (meth)acrylate monomers and having a Tg of greater than 20° C. is provided. Also provided is a polymer composition comprising the impact modifier composition and a base structural polymer.

Abstract: The present invention provides vinyl halide polymer thermoplastic polymer compositions comprising a multi-stage, or, preferably, two-stage acrylic copolymer polymeric additive having (A) a high Tg, high molecular weight first stage polymer that is free of, in copolymerized form, vinyl aromatic monomers, and having (B) a low Tg, low molecular weight second stage polymer of copolymerized vinyl aromatic containing monomers, wherein the multi-stage acrylic copolymer can be isolated by coagulation and drying and provides compositions having both melt strength and lubrication in thermoplastic processing.

Abstract: Provided are methods for improving the melt strength of oriented thermoplastic polymer compositions comprising a polyvinyl chloride formulation, comprising adding an acrylic copolymer to the oriented thermoplastic polymer composition, wherein the acrylic copolymer comprises polymerized units derived from (i) 50 to 95 weight % of methyl methacrylate monomers, and (ii) 5 to 50 weight % of C2-C6 alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers, based on the total weight of monomers in the acrylic copolymer, wherein the acrylic copolymer has a Mw/GPC-PS of 4×106 g/mol or more.
