    Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel including a plurality of gate lines extending in a first direction, a plurality of data lines extending in a second direction crossing the first direction, and a plurality of pixels connected to the gate lines and the data lines, a gate driver configured to apply gate signals to the gate lines, a data driver configured to apply data voltages to the data lines, and a timing controller configured to receive a control signal and image data, to apply a gate control signal to the gate driver, and to apply a data control signal to the data driver, wherein the timing controller is further configured to determine whether to change a present polarity arrangement on a basis of a color ratio of the image data.

    Abstract: A display device includes pixel patterns to display an image. Each pixel pattern is repetitively arranged in row and column directions, including primary pixels, first complex pixels and second complex pixels. Each primary pixel is composed of two primary color sub-pixels configured to provide two primary colors of three primary colors, wherein the three primary colors comprise red, green and blue. Each first complex pixel is composed of one primary color sub-pixel configured to provide a remaining primary color of the three primary colors and a first non-primary color sub-pixel configured to provide a first color selected from non-primary colors, wherein the non-primary colors are different from the three primary colors. Each complex pixel is composed of one primary color sub-pixel configured to provide the remaining primary color and a second non-primary color sub-pixel configured to provide a second color selected from the non-primary colors.

    Abstract: A display apparatus includes: a display panel comprising a plurality of pixels configured to display an image based on input image data; a gate driver configured to output a gate signal to the display panel; a data driver configured to output a data voltage to the display panel; a light source part configured to provide light to the display panel and comprising a plurality of light sources; and a light source driver configured to drive the light source part, wherein a first light source of the light source part is configured to output a first luminance in an active period defined by the data voltage being output to the pixel and a second luminance greater than the first luminance in an inactive period defined by the data voltage is not being output to the pixel.
