Abstract:
To provide a highly reliable heat-dissipating silicone grease composition having stable thermoconductive properties over a long period of time, which does not exude oil, and which does not lead to contact defects. The heat-dissipating silicone grease composition, comprising: (A) 100 weight parts of an organopolysiloxane having a thixotropicity degree null of 1.03-1.50 and a viscosity at 25null C. of 100-1,000,000 mm2/s, and (B) 100-2,000 weight parts of a thermoconductive inorganic filler having an) average particle diameter of 0.1-100 micrometers.
Abstract:
The invention provides composites of organic polymeric compositions including a matrix of an organic polymer and a filler distributed throughout the matrix, the flier being present in the matrix substantially as separate particles, each about the fundamental particle size of the filler. The fillers are unique mixed metal hydroxide compositions that are obtainable in sub-micron size particles. These particles are layered and have a BET specific surface area in excess of about 100 m.sup.2 /g. An anion of the particulates is selected to be compatible with the organic polymer thereby providing ease of dispersion of the filler particles throughout the polymer matrix.
Abstract:
A grease composition comprising a grease containing, in a base oil thereof, from 2 to 40% by weight, based on the total composition, of tricalcium phosphate [Ca.sub.3 (PO.sub.4).sub.2 ], the grease further containing (A) from 0.5 to 10% by weight, based on the total composition, of a molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate sulfide and (B) from 0.1 to 5% by weight, based on the total composition, of at least one of a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate and triphenyl phosphorothionate. The grease composition is excellent in mechanical stability, heat resistance, extreme pressure properties, and wear resistance.
Abstract:
A method of pretreating the connecting elements of a gas-tight sleeve-type pipe connection which includes a tight metal seat and abutting joint shoulders. The connection is effected by screwing threaded pipe ends into a sleeve having threaded portions. The pipes are of high-alloy steel and the connecting elements are of austenitic steels with chromium and nickel contents of greater than 20% by weight and molybdenum contents of greater than 2.5% by weight, as well as austenitic materials with nickel contents of greater than 50% and chromium and molybdenum contents of greater than 10% by weight. The connecting elements of the sleeve are coated with a metal layer. The method includes cleaning the connecting elements and subsequently applying as a lubricant on the connecting elements a metal-free, ceramic-based paste whose principal components are silicates, titanium oxide, and zinc sulfide as solid components, as well as vegetable oils and white oils.
Abstract:
Lubricating grease having high dropping point, superior stability against oxidation and long life is obtained by having a thickener contained in grease, said thickener comprising the three components:a. lithium soap of C.sub.12-24 hydroxyfatty acid,b. lithium phosphate salt produced from phosphoric or phosphorous acid ester andc. dilithium borate.
Abstract:
Useful compositions are prepared by incorporating into organic materials, crystalline lithium aluminates which conform substantially to the empirical formula(LiA.sub.x).sub.y.2Al(OH).sub.3.nH.sub.2 Owhere A represents one or more anions and/or negative-valence radicals, where x represents a quantity of A ions and/or radicals sufficient to substantially satisfy the valence requirements of the Li,where y is a numerical value sufficient to maintain the crystalline structure, and where n represents the number of waters of hydration, if any.
Abstract:
Crystalline aluminates conforming substantially to the general formula LiR.2Al(OH).sub.3, CaR(A).2Al(OH).sub.3, or ZnR(A).2Al(OH).sub.3, where R is an organic acid of C.sub.6 -C.sub.22 and A, when present, is an inorganic anion, are found to improve the coefficient of friction and antiwear properties of lubication fluids subjected to shearing, rubbing, or grinding forces at elevated pressure.
Abstract:
Lubrication and friction reduction improves fuel efficiency and reduces energy consumption. Effective and controllable material removal results in superior surface finishing and planarization. Nanosheets are developed with specific functionalization that can be used to reduce friction and wear, improve the fluidic property, and rheological performanceThe nanosheets can be from the graphite family, transition metal dichalcogenides, transition metal trichalcogenides, semiconducting chalcogenides, metal oxides, layered hydroxides, clays, ternary transition metal carbides and nitrides, and zirconium phosphates and phosphonates, and their corresponding dopants.Tribological, rheological, and polishing applications include lubricants, viscosity modification, and chemical-mechanical planarization. The nanosheets are useful in improving efficiency and lifetime of machinery, saving energy for mechanical operations, and optimizing manufacturing processes in surface engineering.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a grease composition including a base oil and a thickener that provides hydrophilic metal oxide particles and one or more amides which contain one or more unsaturated C—C bonds and/or at least one OH group. The hydrophilic metal oxide particles have a BET specific surface area of at least 10 m2/g and at least 80% of the hydrophilic metal oxide particles have a particle size in the range of from 5 nm to 900 μm. The amount of the thickener is in the range of from 0.1-40% by weight, based on the total weight of the grease composition. The invention further relates to methods for manufacturing the grease composition, and the use of the grease composition for lubricating bearings, gears and couplings.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a food-compatible high-temperature lubricant, more particularly a high-temperature oil and a high-temperature grease, comprising the following components: a) at least one oil selected from a trimellitic ester or a mixture of different trimellitic esters, alkylaromatics, preferably an aliphatically substituted naphthalene, or estolides; b) a hydrogenated or fully hydrogenated polyisobutylene or a mixture of hydrogenated or fully hydrogenated polyisobutylene; and c) additives individually or in combination. In the case of the high-temperature grease, a thickener is added.
