Abstract:
Acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphate having a length to average diameter ratio of at least 10:1 can be prepared by forming a melt of materials used as a source of calcium, phosphorus and alkali metal, cooling the melt to about 550.degree. C. to about 970.degree. C., inducing acicular crystal formation, and recovering the acicular crystals. The diameters of the resultant acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphates can average as small as 0.5 micron or smaller. Acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphate can also be prepared with an average diameter of several microns and a length of several centimeters. Such acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphates are useful in a number of applications, and particularly to prepare composites with organic polymeric materials.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a food-compatible high-temperature lubricant, more particularly a high-temperature oil and a high-temperature grease, comprising the following components: a) at least one oil selected from a trimellitic ester or a mixture of different trimellitic esters, alkylaromatics, preferably an aliphatically substituted naphthalene, or estolides; b) a hydrogenated or fully hydrogenated polyisobutylene or a mixture of hydrogenated or fully hydrogenated polyisobutylene; and c) additives individually or in combination. In the case of the high-temperature grease, a thickener is added.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a high-temperature grease which is used inter alia in corrugated cardboard plants and comprises exclusively fluorine-free base oil.
Abstract:
A composition is disclosed which comprises an aryl perfluoropolyether, optionally a halogenated oil, and further optionally a thickening agent. The composition can be used as a lubricant itself or as an additive to an oil or grease lubricant and can withstand temperatures higher than 300° C. without decomposition. The halogenated oil can be a perfluoropolyether, a fluorosilicone, a polytrifluorochloroethylene, or combinations of two or more thereof. The thickening agent can be finely divided silica, boron nitride, clay, soap, poly(tetrafluoroethylene), clay, talc, silica, titanium dioxide, polydimethylsiloxane, polyurea, polyurethane, or combinations of two or more thereof.

Abstract:
Fluorinated lubricants of formula: T-O[A-B]z-[A-B′]z′-A-T′ (I)wherein: A=—(X)a—O-A′-(X′)b wherein A′ is a perfluoropolyether chain comprising units (CF2O), (CF2CF2O), (CF2CF2CF2O), (CF2CF2CF2CF2O); X, X′═—CF2—, —CF2CF2—; a, b=0 or 1; B derives from olefins, of which at least one homopolymerizable by radical route, of formula: —[(CR1R2—CR3R4)j(CR5R6—CR7R8)j′]— (Ia) wherein j=1-5, j′=0-4 and 2
Abstract:
A protective coating is formed on a metallic material surface by applying a treating agent comprising water, an alkali silicate, and, optionally, a lubricating component to the surface and drying the treating agent. The coating film thereby formed has excellent anti-galling and rust preventive properties. If a lubricating component is present, the coating film also has excellent self-lubricating properties.

Abstract:
The rolling bearing of the invention to be incorporated in the compressor for fuel cell system comprises a fluorine-based grease containing a fluororesin and a fluorine-based oil, a urea grease containing a urea compound and a synthetic oil or a lithium complex grease containing a lithium complex and a synthetic oil encapsulated therein. In this arrangement, the grease deterioration of the rolling bearing incorporated in the compressor for force-feeding various fluids between machines can be prevented, making it possible to provide a fuel cell system which can maintain stable operation over an extended period of time.
Abstract:
A grease composition is produced by mixing a thickener comprising a fluoro resin and a second thickener component (a metallic soap, a complex metallic soap, an N-substituted terephthalamic acid metal salt, organic bentonite or a calcium sulfonate complex) into a base oil. This grease composition is excellent in heat resistance, load carrying capacity, water resistance, rust protection, lubricating life and the like. A rolling apparatus filled with the above grease composition has excellent lubricating ability and is long-lived under high-temperature conditions. Moreover, a grease composition is produced by mixing a thickener comprising a fluoro resin and carbon black as a second thickener component into a base oil. This grease composition is excellent in heat resistance, water resistance, rust protection, lubricating life, electric conductivity and the like. A rolling apparatus filled with the above grease composition has excellent electric conductivity and is long-lived under high-temperature conditions.
