Abstract:
A parking area entrance or exit barrier includes a control system which receives inputs from various accessories associated with the operation of the barrier, and which provides control signals to the various accessories of the barrier. One of the accessories includes a sensor attached to the barrier. The sensor senses an accident event, such as contact between the barrier and a vehicle. Whenever an accident event is sensed, the control system creates an accident event log of information concerning the accident event. The accident event log may include video images of the barrier, a position of the barrier, a movement direction and speed of the barrier, and an approximated speed of the vehicle. The control system may also monitor a performance of the various accessories of the barrier and create a performance log relating to any malfunction of the accessories. The performance of the accessories may also indicate tampering or fraudulent activities concerning the parking barrier, such as an attendant stealing parking fees. The accident event log and/or performance log may be transmitted to a central service facility. Further, the central service facility can remotely change operating parameters of the control system.
Abstract:
A fire-resistant, aluminum, cementitious-material-free, insulation-free door adapted to prevent the spread of fire and heat passing therethrough, consists of: a door frame, a door hingedly mounted on the door frame, the door having a bottom wall, a top wall, and side walls, the bottom wall, top wall and side walls enclosing a hollow central core not containing substantial amounts of insulating material, the bottom wall having an outside surface, and the top wall having an outside surface; and a layer of intumescent material on the outside surface of the bottom wall. A heat-activated self-closing mechanism allows the weight of the door to close the door in the vent of fire, by releasing gas from a supporting gas spring.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a speed regulator for an automatically closing slide door for regulating a closing speed of an automatically closing slide door which is closed automatically, comprising; a generator associated with said slide door; an one-way clutch means for converting a linear movement caused during a closing motion of said slide door into a rotational movement and for transmitting said rotational movement to said generator; a resistor connected to an output of said generator; and a speed change means for changing said closing speed of said slide door, at a predetermined position before the closed position of said slide door, from a first predetermined speed to a second predetermined speed slower than said first predetermined speed by changing a resistance value of said resistor.

Abstract:
This invention relates to a novel self-closing fire rated floor door. More particularly, this invention pertains to a novel floor door which uses fusible plugs and compressed gas cylinders for automatically closing the floor door when ambient temperature rises above a predetermined temperature, due to a fire. A self-closing fire rated floor door assembly comprising: (a) a fire rated frame with an opening therethrough; (b) a fire rated door hingedly connected to the frame and cooperating with the opening; (c) a fluid cylinder which is pivotally connected to the frame and the door, the cylinder when pressurized with fluid opening the door relative to the frame, and when depressurized, closing the door relative to the frame; (d) a fusible plug, rated according to a specific temperature, connected in fluid-tight manner with the fluid cylinder.
Abstract:
A rolling fire door includes a door hold-open/release system that includes an electromagnet which is energized by a controller when the door is in the open position. The energized electromagnet magnetically attracts a bottom bar of the rolling door to secure the door in the open position. A key control station connected to the controller enables the electromagnet to be energized when the door is in the open position and enables the controller to deenergize the electromagnet so that the weight of the door causes the door to close. The key control station also includes a test switch which enables the controller to deenergize the electromagnet after a delay interval. The controller also deenergizes the electromagnet after a delay interval in response to activation of an alarm or in response to a thermal switch sensing a temperature in excess of a set point temperature.
Abstract:
A device for automatically closing windows with vertically sliding sashes in the case of fire comprisesat least one spring compensator (9) removably engaged with a lateral upright (3) of the cased frame (2) of the window and having its extractable core (14) connected to the sliding sash (1),a cord (15) fixed at one end to said compensator (9), fixed at its other end to said cased frame (2) and passing about an idler pulley (16) fixed to said cased frame (2) in a position above the two ends of said cord (15) in such a manner as to keep it under tension and ensure that said compensator (9) remains engaged with said cased frame (2), anda thermosensitive element (17) interposed along said cord (15) and acting to break its continuity if the predetermined temperature is exceeded.
Abstract:
An operator for an overhead door comprises a fluid actuated device including a cylinder and a cooperating piston. The piston rod carries a pair of cable sheaves. Another pair of sheaves are rotatable on a fixed mounting. A cable is wound around pulleys in corresponding pairs. Each cable has one end anchored and another end fastened to the door so when the fluid actuated devices spread the pair of sheaves, the door lifts. Pressurized fluid is relieved from the cylinder to let the door close under its own weight. Electric circuits for actuating the hydraulic circuit are shown.
Abstract:
An automatic door opening and shutting device is disclosed. The present device comprises a support having an upper tube movable up and down toward a fixed lower tube, a driving source mounted on the upper tube of the support, a friction drive means for carrying out a friction drive of the door by transmitting power of the driving source to the door and a detecting means for detecting either person or vehicle coming in and out of the door, wherein a clockwise an anticlockwise actuation of or stop of the friction drive means can be controlled automatically by signals transmitted from the detecting means or the like.
Abstract:
A door having horizontally hinged sections is supported upon reinforced track means for movement between an upright closed position and an open position. A counterbalance mechanism, which is mounted upon the wall above the opening, is connected to the door to counteract gravity. The counterbalance springs are connected to fusible link means which melts at a predetermined temperature and thereby reduces the tension on the springs so that the door will close under the force of gravity. Governor means is rendered operative when the fusible link is ruptured to control the closing movement of the door.
