Abstract: A transmission for a vehicle capable is provided to improve fuel efficiency through multiple gear shift stages and enhance power performance of an engine. By combining first and second planetary gear sets, a compound planetary gear set, and multiple frictional elements selectively connecting rotary components of the three planetary gear sets via a corresponding shaft, the transmission provides eleven forward gear stages and three reverse gear stages. In particular, a first rotary element of the first planetary gear is fixedly connected to a transmission case, a second rotary element of the first planetary gear is fixedly connected to a second rotary element of the second planetary gear, and a third rotary element of the first planetary gear device is selectively connected to a first rotary element of the compound planetary gear set and a fourth rotary element of the compound planetary gear set.

Abstract: A method of operating a motor vehicle transmission includes measuring an operating temperature of the transmission, the transmission having at least seven torque transmitting mechanisms and at least three planetary gear sets, each planetary gear set having three gear members; determining if the transmission is in a park mode; determining if the operating temperature is below a predetermined threshold; if the operating temperature is below the predetermined threshold and the transmission is the park mode, implementing a shift delay mitigation process that includes engaging a fourth torque transmitting mechanism and a firth torque transmitting mechanism of the at least seven torque transmitting mechanisms so that they are locked to a ground to prevent a first gear member of the first planetary gear set from moving, which, in turn, prevents an input torque being transferred to a park pawl.

Abstract: A control system for hybrid vehicles is provided to prevent reduction in drive force when propelling the vehicle backwardly while activating the engine. In the differential mechanism, a first rotary element is connected to an engine, a second rotary element is connected to a first motor, a third rotary element is connected to a second motor, and a fourth rotary element is connected to an output unit. A third motor is connected to the output unit. When propelling the vehicle backwardly while activating the engine, first motor and the second motor establish reaction torques against engine torque, and the third motor generates drive torque to propel the hybrid vehicle in the reverse direction.

Abstract: A multi-speed transmission including an electric motor having a hollow rotor shaft disposed in an axle housing, a first planetary gear set, a second a planetary gear set, a third planetary gear set. The first planetary gear set is drivingly connected to the rotor shaft and a first transfer shaft. The second planetary gear set is drivingly connected to the first transfer shaft and a second transfer shaft and has ring gear selectively fixed to the axle housing. The third planetary gear set is drivingly connected to the first transfer shaft and an output gear and has a ring gear rotationally fixed to the axle housing. Clutches are selectively engaged to rotationally fix the ring gears to the axle housing. The rotor shaft and first transfer shaft are coaxially with respect to each other and axle half shafts of a transaxle.

Abstract: A tolerance ring is arranged between an output-side rotary shaft and a rotor shaft. For this reason, even when looseness in a spline fitting portion of the output-side rotary shaft and rotor shaft is not filled, both the output-side rotary shaft and the rotor shaft are held by the tolerance ring so as not to rattle. Therefore, it is possible to reduce tooth hammer noise that occurs in the spline fitting portion.

Abstract: A vehicle control apparatus includes: a transmission shifting control portion configured to implement a shifting action of a step-variable transmission, by controlling a releasing action of a releasing coupling device and an engaging action of an engaging coupling device; a torque control portion configured, during the shifting action of the step-variable transmission, to implement a feedback control to control an input torque inputted to the step-variable transmission, such that a value representing a state of a rotary motion of an input rotary member of the step-variable transmission coincides with a target value dependent on a degree of progress of the shifting action; and a backup control portion configured, when it is determined that the drive wheels are slipped, to inhibit the feedback control, and to compensate a transmitted torque to be transmitted through an initiative coupling device, such that the shifting action is facilitated by compensation of the transmitted torque.
