    Abstract: A measuring station for a photometer has an aperture which connects a measuring chamber and the environment and through which a sample vessel can be introduced into the measuring chamber and/or removed from the measuring chamber. The sample vessel is raised and lowered by a plunger which is adapted to seal against the aperture by means of a sealing element. The sealing element has a first position in which its periphery circumscribes a smaller area than the internal clear cross-section of the aperture, to permit the sample vessel to be lifted into the chamber. The sealing element can then be expanded radially into sealing engagement with the aperture to seal the plunger to the walls of the aperture to prevent ingress of light.

    Abstract: A light shield is arranged in a light shielding position with respect to a sensor or a blood leakage detector installed in a medical apparatus and monitoring for changes of transmittance in a translucent fluid carried in a tubing connected to the medical apparatus. The light shield has a non-transparent configuration and is configured to prevent environmental light from being incident on a relevant detection active sensor area. Further, a disposable kit for a medical apparatus which is arranged to be mounted to the medical apparatus and to carry pre-installed disposables to be used during a medical treatment comprises a hard-shell subassembly arranged to be positioned in a region of the medical apparatus in the vicinity of a detection active sensor area of a sensor which is sensitive to light and installed in the medical apparatus. At least one light shield element is selected from first to third light shield elements, and the at least one light shield element is mounted to the hard-shell subassembly of the disposable kit in a region where the detection active sensor area is underneath.

    Abstract: Provided is a portable ultraviolet device for exploring a mineral resource.     Abstract: The photometer is adapted for sensing radiation emitted by a chemical sample held in a cuvette received in a first compartment and includes a highly sensitive photomultiplier in a second compartment adjacent the first compartment for detecting fluorescent radiation emitted by the chemical sample and passing through an opening between the compartments. A mechanical protector assembly is provided for protecting the photomultiplier from ambient light and includes a movable light shield movable between a first position blocking the opening and a second position not blocking the opening. A knob is provided for moving the light shield to the first position to protect the photomultiplier from light entering from the first compartment when the first compartment is opened for insertion or removal of a cuvette, and for moving the light shield to the second position not blocking the opening to permit radiation emitted by the chemical sample to impinge upon the photomultiplier in the second compartment. The photometer also includes a mechanical interlocking assembly for ensuring that the first compartment cannot be opened unless the light shield is in the first position to prevent ambient light from entering the second compartment from the first compartment and reaching the photomultiplier.

    Abstract: A sensor mounting system having a suction cup array is disclosed. In one application, the system eases the initial positioning of the calorimeter on the screen to be measured, minimizes the force applied to the screen upon which it is mounted, and minimizes the distortion in the mounted area of the screen surface. In addition, the mounting system can be configured so that the distance from the colorimeter sensor to the screen will not significantly change over time. Such positional stability operates to improve SNR. The mounting system is further adapted for ease of removal from the screen upon which it is mounted. Applications not only include a mount for low to high accuracy calorimeters, but also for other measurement devices that can benefit from advantages of the present invention.
