Abstract: Methods systems and devices for wireless communications are described. One or more multiple access-capable user equipments (UEs) may be grouped together for transmitting uplink multiple access communications to a base station, where the UEs may be assigned to the group based on similar capabilities or service requirements. The UE may receive configuration information based at least in part on the group to which the UE has been assigned. When assigned to a group, the UEs may also receive a group-specific scrambling code for the uplink multiple access communications, a group-specific power control for the uplink multiple access communications, time and frequency resources to be used for the uplink multiple access communications specific to the group, or a combination thereof. Additionally, the specific time and frequency resources may be defined by multiple access resource units.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may receive, from a user equipment (UE), a first random access message of a two-step random access procedure. In some examples, the first random access message may be transmitted by the UE based on one or more cell-specific transmission parameters or cell-specific transmission schemes. The base station may transmit, to the UE, a second random access response message of the two-step random access procedure in response to the first random access message. The second random access response message being transmitted based on one or more cell-specific transmission parameters or cell-specific transmission schemes. Accordingly, the base station and the UE may establish a connection with the UE based on the first random access message and the second random access response message, or the base station can indicate to the UE to return to an inactive mode or idle state.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a first downlink communication associated with a small data transmission (SDT) operation, the first downlink communication indicating a dedicated physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource set. The UE may receive a second downlink communication during the SDT operation, the second downlink communication comprising at least one of an SDT communication or a non-SDT communication, the non-SDT communication being received during a radio resource control (RRC) inactive state associated with the UE or an RRC idle state associated with the UE. The UE may transmit, using the dedicated PUCCH resource set, uplink control information (UCI) associated with the second downlink communication. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Cell reselection and other operations involving signal measurements at a UE may increase the power consumption and operation complexity at a UE, such as a reduced capacity UE (RedCap UE). In some scenarios, for example, a UE may need to frequently switch to bandwidth parts (BWPs) outside the bandwidth of its initial DL bandwidth part to receive and measure synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) for cell reselection, which increases the power consumption of the UE. The aspects described herein allow a UE to measure SSBs in one or more bandwidth parts that is not an initial DL bandwidth part configured by a serving cell of the UE in response to an event trigger or a message received at the UE. The SSBs may be associated with the serving cell of the UE or with a non-serving cell. The UE performs a cell reselection operation based on the measurements.
