Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a user equipment (UE) may communicate with a first network device in a first communications system (e.g., a non-standalone (NSA) system) prior to initiating a handover to a second communications system (e.g., a standalone (SA) system). In some examples, the UE may receive a first tracking reference signal (TRS) from the first network device using a first transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state. The first network device may include an indication of the first TCI state in a control message. The UE may initiate a handover from the first network device to the second network device. Subsequent to the handover, the UE may receive a second TRS from the second network device. The UE may receive the second TRS using the first TCI state based on determining that one or more antenna port configuration conditions are satisfied.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for avoiding conflicts between evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS) operations and paging and/or mobile originated (MO) operations in communication systems. A method for wireless communications by a user Equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes identifying at least one evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) session available for receiving one or more eMBMS services from a base station. The method also includes taking one or more actions to reduce a conflict between receiving the one or more eMBMS services from the base station and receiving a paging message from the base station during the eMBMS session. Abstract: Cell reselection and other operations involving signal measurements at a UE may increase the power consumption and operation complexity at a UE, such as a reduced capacity UE (RedCap UE). In some scenarios, for example, a UE may need to frequently switch to bandwidth parts (BWPs) outside the bandwidth of its initial DL bandwidth part to receive and measure synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) for cell reselection, which increases the power consumption of the UE. The aspects described herein allow a UE to measure SSBs in one or more bandwidth parts that is not an initial DL bandwidth part configured by a serving cell of the UE in response to an event trigger or a message received at the UE. The SSBs may be associated with the serving cell of the UE or with a non-serving cell. The UE performs a cell reselection operation based on the measurements.

Abstract: In order to enable a UE receiving a narrowband signal transmitted using in-band resources to use the LTE reference signals to assist the UE in receiving the narrowband signal using an in-band deployment, a phase rotation employed by the base station may be fixed relative to a known reference position in time. An apparatus for wireless communication at a base station may determine a phase offset for a narrowband signal for transmission using wideband resources, the phase offset having a relationship to a reference point in time and transmit the narrowband signal using the determined phase offset. An apparatus for wireless communication at a UE may receive a narrowband signal having a frequency location within a wideband signal and rotate a symbol of the wideband signal by a per symbol phase offset having a relationship of the phase offset to a reference point in time.
