Abstract:
Method for producing a cooling emulsion, particularly for use as an auxiliary means in boring, cutting and grinding in the metalworking industry, in which organic substances which are per se insoluble in water are rendered water-dispersible and are emulsified with water. A mixture of about 3% to 15% by weight of natural wax(es) of animal and/or 0.1% to 0.45% by weight of a commercial emulsifier, and the remainder an aqueous di/tri-ethanol mixture comprising about 50% by weight of water, 37.5% by weight of di-ethanolamine and about 12.5% by weight of tri-ethanolamine is produced. Then the mixture is brought to a boil while stirring; after dissolution of the wax component, it is cooled to a reaction temperature while stirring, and subsequently, after aminization of the wax component by the di/triethanol mixture is cooled down to application temperature. For use it is further diluted with water.
Abstract:
Aqueous compositions having a viscosity of at least 10 centistokes at 40.degree. C. which contain up to about 80 percent by weight of water, at least 0.1 percent by weight of an acidic lubricity agent and an effective amount of an anti-wear additive which is the combination of a nitroaromatic compound component and a hydroxyl substituted aromatic acid component exhibit enhanced anti-wear and lubricity properties.
Abstract:
An aqueous liquid medium having increased low shear viscosity as provided by dispersing into the aqueous medium (1) a water-soluble polymer having pendant hydrophobic groups, e.g., an acrylamide dodecyl acrylate copolymer, and (2) a water-dispersible surfactant, e.g., sodium oleate, or dodecyl polyethyleneoxy glycol monoether. The thickened aqueous medium is suitably emloyed in applications requiring viscous liquids which retain their viscosity when subjected to shear, heat or high electrolyte (salt) concentrations. Such applications include uses in enhanced oil recovery processes, as fluid mobility control agents, fracturing fluids and drilling muds, as well as hydraulic fluids and lubricants in many applications.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition for coating a tire curing bladder comprising, in aqueous medium, polydimethylsiloxanes, bentonite clay, polyalkylene glycols surfactants an optionally stabilizers, defoamers and corrosion inhibitors.
Abstract:
A sun tracking apparatus comprises a first pair of photosensors arranged at symmetrically opposed positions on a first horizontal axis rotatable around a third vertical axis, and a second pair of photosensors arranged at symmetrically opposed positions on a second axis perpendicular to and rotatable around the first axis. To the first and third axes are connected driving means which operate when there are differences in outputs between the first pair of photosensors and between the second pair of photosensors, respectively.
Abstract:
Disclosed in this invention are copolymers containing about 0.5% to about 20%, by weight, of a C.sub.10 -C.sub.36 monoepoxide and about 99.5% to about 80%, by weight, of a 1,3 dioxolane. These copolymers are useful in increasing the viscosity of aqueous systems employed in various end uses, such as coatings and hydraulic fluids.
