Abstract:
A method includes the steps of: a) electrically connecting an electric heater to an external electrical power source, b) disconnecting the electric heater from the external electrical power source, c) energizing a motor contained within the housing to impart motion to a body-care surface, and d) applying the body-care surface to the skin surface while the electric heater is disconnected from the external electrical power source. The electric heater heats a thermal energy storage medium in thermal contact therewith, and the electric heater and thermal energy storage medium are associated with a handheld device having a housing arranged and configured for gripping by a human hand. The motor imparts motion to a body-care surface operatively connected to the housing and in thermal contact with the thermal energy storage medium.
Abstract:
A therapeutic hand exercise device comprises one or more pliant sleeves (5) for attachment to one or more digits of a human hand, a chamber (4) provided in at least a dorsal region of the or each pliant sleeve (5), a liquid inlet to the chamber and a pump (3) for supplying pressurised liquid to the or each chamber. Each pliant sleeve (5) is movable between a relaxed state and a stiffened state in which the pliant sleeve forms a substantially rigid elongate member for holding a finger disposed within the sleeve in an extended position. A resilient member (6) is fitted to the Palmar side of each pliant sleeve which returns the finger to a state of contracture.
Abstract:
An exemplary embodiment of a heater assembly includes a heater housing structure defining an elongated heater chamber having a first port and a second port and defining a wetted side on the interior of the heater chamber and a non-wetted side on the exterior of the heater chamber. A resistive heater element is has an active region disposed within the heater chamber, free of any brazed or welded bulkhead members. The housing structure includes a first heater terminal opening and a second heater terminal opening, a first terminal end of the heater element passed through the first terminal opening from the wetted side to the non-wetted side, and a second terminal end of the heater element passed through the second terminal opening from the wetted side to the non-wetted side. First and second seal members are disposed on the non-wetted side respectively onto the first terminal end and the second terminal end and in contact with respective first and second seal surfaces defined on the housing structure. First and second fastener members respectively engage the first terminal end and the second terminal end and the first and second seal members. The housing structure may be fabricated of plastic, with respective current collectors in the form of unitary wire forms disposed at opposite ends of the housing structure.
Abstract:
In a stimulus method, a stimulus applying apparatus is attached to an area selected from a group of specific parts of a body surface by an acupuncture needle(s) or heating etc. thereby releasing the stress, and a stress-free medical treatment method based on the stimulus method.
Abstract:
A physiology enhancing device for improving physiological functions of a human body, etc., which comprises a heat generating element making use of chemical energy and a sheet interposed between the heat generating element and a body surface of a wearer, and which is designed to supply steam generated from the heat generating element while the device is applied to the body surface. The device exhibits steam generating capability for 2 hours or longer and, while applied to the body surface, raises the body surface temperature to a temperature from 38° C. to lower than 42° C. within one hour from the application. The sheet interposed between the heat generating element and the body surface preferably has a function of regulating air feed to the heat generating element and a function of transferring the heat of the physiology enhancing device to the body surface and preferably has a total thickness of 0.05 to 1.5 mm.
Abstract:
Therapy system for treatment of an animate body including core body cooling. The system includes a therapy wrap and a first therapy device for exchanging heat with the body. The system may include a second therapy device for delivering another therapy. The first therapy device may include a heat transfer device, a cooling or heating source, and a control unit. The heat transfer device may include a fluid bladder and a compressive bladder. The second therapy device may be an electric stimulation device. The therapy wrap is adapted to coordinate delivery of the thermal therapy and another therapy to the animate body. The therapy wrap may also be a sleeve for mounting components of the first and second therapy devices. Also disclosed are a method of administering a temperature-controlled treatment to an anatomical body part and method of making the therapy system.
Abstract:
A patient therapy device for providing treatment to a patient. The therapy device improves conformance to a joint and adjoining body parts. The device includes an angle adjustment assembly for forming the device into one of a plurality of predefined angles. The predefined angles may correspond to a desired angle of a joint during treatment. Further disclosed is a device for assisting a user with applying the therapy device to a body part. Also disclosed are methods of administering a treatment to an animate body.
Abstract:
System and method for reducing stored body fats in a treatment region on a body. The system includes an ultrasound apparatus, for transmitting ultrasound waves at the treatment region. The ultrasound waves facilitate the release of triglycerides, fat molecules and toxins from stored fat within the treatment region, achieving the reduction of stored body fats by accelerating the relative proportion of fat catabolism in the treatment region. The treated person may be undergoing a physical exercise substantially concurrently to the ultrasound transmission. Electrical stimulation, such as interferential stimulation, may be applied to the treatment region substantially concurrently to the ultrasound transmission. Pressure may be exerted onto the treatment region substantially concurrently to the ultrasound transmission, such as by kneading a portion of the ultrasound apparatus against the treatment region, or by massaging the treatment region, manually or mechanically with a massaging device.
Abstract:
A female stimulation device contained in a housing to deliver pulsating positive air pressure to the clitoris and other regions of the female genital region having an air pump/compressor, a length of tubing connected to the air pump/compressor, a variable control on the pump to increase or decrease the frequency of the pulsation, a regulator to vary the positive air pressure, a pressure gauge attached to the pump outlet and the regulator, a container connected to the compressor to provide a means to include a lubricant and/or scent in the air flow. Various tips to direct the pulsating positive air flow and direct mechanical stimulation to the clitoris and nearby regions are connectable to the tubing outlet.
Abstract:
