Abstract: A spectrometer includes a support having a bottom wall part and a side wall part arranged on one side of the bottom wall part, a light detection element supported by the support to face a surface of the bottom wall part on the one side through a spectroscopic space, a resin molded layer provided at least on the surface of the bottom wall part on the one side, and a reflecting layer provided on the resin molded layer and included in an optical function part on the bottom wall part. The resin molded layer has a first part having a shape corresponding to the optical function part and a second part which surrounds the first part and is thinner than the first part.

Abstract: An infrared spectrometer for operation in the mid-infrared spectral range is presented, where the spectrometer includes a Bragg-mirror-based spectral filter that is operative for providing an interrogation signal whose spectral content is dispersed along a first direction at a filter aperture. The filter aperture is imaged through a sample by a thermal-imaging camera to create a focused image that is based on the interrogation signal and the absorption characteristics of the sample. As a result, embodiments in accordance with the present disclosure can be smaller, less complex, and less expensive than infrared spectrometers known in the prior art.

Abstract: Melanopic dose rate and dose are calculated in a virtual environment. A computer generated model of an actual or planned building is used as the virtual environment. Indirect and direct spherical irradiances are calculated using convex polyhedra throughout the virtual environment, and each is multiplied by a melanopic conversion factor. The two are added, then adjusted for a human's angular responsivity and age. Building design features or lighting devices may be adjusted to provide a required melanopic dose rate. A camera is used to capture a panoramic image, which is calibrated to tristimulus values, and used with the spectral power distribution of the light sources to derive the melanopic dose rate.

Abstract: An optical filter includes a variable wavelength interference filter including a pair of reflection films and having a plurality of transmission peak wavelengths according to the dimension of the gap between the pair of reflection films and a fixed wavelength filter disposed so as to face the variable wavelength interference filter and having a plurality of filter regions different from one another in transmission wavelength segment. The plurality of transmission peak wavelengths of the variable wavelength interference filter correspond to the transmission wavelength segments of the plurality of filter regions, respectively. The plurality of transmission peak wavelengths of the variable wavelength interference filter each change within the corresponding transmission wavelength segment of the plurality of filter regions in accordance with a change in the gap dimension.

Abstract: Disclosed is an instrument including a multipath, monolithic optical component, made up of a portion of a transparent material between two opposite faces of the component. One of the two faces of the component is formed by a first refracting surface, and the other face includes several second refracting surfaces which are juxtaposed. Each optical path of the component is formed by one of the second refracting surfaces in combination with a corresponding portion of the first refracting surface. One such component is suited for being part, within the instrument, of a detection module with multiple optical paths arranged in parallel, with a matrix photodetector shared by the optical paths. Such a detection module may be compact enough in order to be integrated into a cryostat cold screen, improving cooling thereof, and may be combined with an objective in order to form an instrument with multiple optical paths.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a tip-enhanced Raman spectroscope system. The first Raman spectrometer is disposed on a first Raman optical path of the first Raman scattered light. The confocal detecting unit is disposed on a first Rayleigh optical path of the first Rayleigh scattered light to image the sample.

Abstract: An example system for inspecting a surface includes a laser, an optical system, a gated camera, and a control system. The laser is configured to emit pulses of light, with respective wavelengths of the pulses of light varying over time. The optical system includes at least one optical element, and is configured to direct light emitted by the laser to points along a scan line one point at a time. The gated camera is configured to record a fluorescent response of the surface from light having each wavelength of a plurality of wavelengths at each point along the scan line. The control system is configured to control the gated camera such that an aperture of the gated camera is open during fluorescence of the surface but closed during exposure of the surface to light emitted by the laser.
