Abstract: An airbag device includes a driver airbag cushion and a curtain airbag cushion. The curtain airbag cushion includes a first seam portion formed so as to extend vertically within a range in which the driver airbag cushion is projected outward in the vehicle width direction, a first chamber expanding so as to be thicker in the vehicle width direction than the first seam portion on the front side of the first seam portion, and a second chamber expanding so as to be thicker in the vehicle width direction than the first seam portion on the rear side of the first seam portion. The driver airbag cushion is expanded and deployed in a state separated from the first chamber while being in contact with a curved portion of the second chamber that is curved toward the first seam portion.

Abstract: A driver seat airbag apparatus includes a steering wheel and an airbag module. The steering wheel has a central hub and a rim. The rim has a shape in which a portion of the upper portion of the rim is omitted. The hub includes: a module housing part which houses the airbag module; and a cover which covers the module housing and is cleavable at the expansion pressure of the cushion. The cover includes cover doors which open at the expansion pressure of the cushion. When the cover is cleaved, the cover doors are open in the right and left diagonal upward directions when viewed from the center of the hub, while a space portion without the cover doors is formed in the direction directly above the center of the hub when viewed from the center of the hub.

Abstract: A steering wheel is disclosed enabling suppressing unnecessary rocking of the airbag module during airbag activation and thereby ensures prescribed deployment performance of the airbag cushion. In detail, the steering wheel is provided with a core metal having a boss part configured so as to be mountable on a steering shaft and an airbag module movably provided with respect to the core metal and having an airbag cushion that can be expanded and deployed. The stopper of the core metal is separated from the stopper contact part of the airbag module in a non-activated state of the airbag, and comes into contact with the stopper contact part due to movement or deformation of the airbag module caused by expansion and deployment of the airbag cushion during activation of the airbag.

Abstract: When an occupant has moved from a normal seating position, a case can occur where a hood-type airbag cannot be expanded and deployed since the airbag is stopped in the process of expansion and deployment due to contact with the head of the occupant. An airbag device is provided having an airbag, and an inflator for supplying gas to the airbag. In an expanded and deployed state where expansion and deployment of the airbag has been finished, the airbag includes a head protection chamber for blanketing an occupant from a vertex part of the head to a temporal part of the head, and a pair of lateral part protection chambers that are arranged on both of the left/right sides of the head protection chamber and that blanket lateral sides of the occupant.
