An immunopotentiator comprising abrin as an active ingredient. Abrin is a glucoprotein having a molecular weight of about 65,000 and can be used in the form of an aqueous solution. It is useful for prevention and treatment of bacterial and viral infections.
Abstract:
A contact for a vacuum interrupter has excellent characteristics of high withstand voltage, low melt bonding property, large current durability and low chopping current and is prepared by uniformly distributing, in a copper matrix, two kinds of high melting point metal powders having a melting point of higher than 1450.degree. C. which have different particle diameters of (1) 80-300 .mu.m and (2) less than 30 .mu.m. The low chopping current characteristic is imparted by incorporating more than 10 wt. % of the high melting point metal powder. The high melting point metal powder can be selected from the group consisting of Cr, W, Mo, Ir and Co.
Abstract:
An optical sensor has a glass base having a concave portion, and a glass lid is bonded to the base and overlies the concave portion to form a cavity portion. A photoelectric conversion element id accommodated in the cavity portion. Internal wirings are each connected at one end to the photoelectric conversion element and extend through notches each formed at a corner of a peripheral edge along an outside surface of the base. The other ends of the internal wirings are connected inside the notches to external wirings that extend along an outside surface of the base and terminate in external terminals.
Abstract:
An electronic component includes a glass substrate, a lid that is bonded to the glass substrate, an internal electrode, an external electrode, and a through electrode that is disposed in a through hole passing through the glass substrate and electrically connects the internal electrode to the external electrode. A sputtered metal layer is formed on the end face of a core member of the through electrode, which is made of a metal, by sputtering.
Abstract:
A package manufacturing method capable of manufacturing a package easily and efficiently. The package manufacturing method includes a jig disposing step of disposing a covering jig covering an outer peripheral portion on one surface of a first board so as to expose a hole forming region through a jig opening formed on the covering jig; and a filling step of filling a filling material constituting at least a part of penetration electrodes into holes. The filling step includes a metal mask disposing step of disposing a metal mask 84 on the covering jig so as to expose the hole forming region through the jig opening and a mask opening of the metal mask; and a main filling step of applying the filling material on the one surface of the first board so as to fill the filling material into the holes using a squeegee. The filling step is repeated in several rounds, and in the metal mask disposing step of a second or later round of the filling step, a metal mask of which the mask opening has a diameter larger than that used in a previous round of the metal mask disposing step is used.
Abstract:
A brake disc capable of sufficiently absorbing thermal stress associated with thermal expansion and deformation of the braking section. The brake disc includes a mounting section for attachment to a wheel, a braking section located at the outside circumference of the mounting section for brake pads to be brought into sliding contact therewith, and a connecting arm section for connecting each of the plurality of mounting portions of the mounting section and the braking section. Connecting arms in the connecting arm section each extend from their respective ones of the plurality of mounting portions in one side direction different from the radial direction of the braking section to reach the braking section, and adjacent mounting portions are connected to each other at least through a connecting arm.
Abstract:
A reducing water purification material having a reducing iron-based precipitate selected from green rust, iron ferrite, reducing iron hydroxide, and a mixture thereof. A wastewater treatment process having steps of adding a reducing iron compound to wastewater, leading the wastewater to which the reducing iron compound is added to a reaction tank and forming a precipitate, separating the formed precipitate by a solid-liquid separation to obtain a sludge, and alkalinizing all or a portion of the separated sludge to form an alkaline sludge followed by returning to the reaction tank, wherein in the precipitation step, the wastewater to which the reducing iron compound is added and the alkaline sludge are mixed and are allowed to react in a non-oxidizing atmosphere under alkaline condition to form a reducing iron compound precipitate as the precipitate, thereby incorporating contaminants in the precipitate to remove the contaminants from the wastewater.
Abstract:
A small vehicle features a drive system that directs power from an engine unit to at least one driven wheel. The driven wheel is connected to a half shaft. The half shaft is driven by a ring gear. The ring gear is driven by a pinion gear. The pinion gear is connected to a longitudinally extending drive shaft. The pinion gear is axially adjustable along the rotational axis of the drive shaft relative to the ring gear. The pinion gear is not substantially axially adjustable relative to a cover member the partially defines a gear housing. The cover member is adjustably secured to the balance of the gear housing through a shim. The shim can be exchanged for varied shim sizes to effect proper meshing between the pinion gear and the ring gear.
