Abstract: A method performed by a WTRU may comprise receiving scheduling information on a broadcast control channel (BCCH) which defines time periods for reception of broadcast messages transmitted on a downlink shared channel. The WTRU may determine whether additional messages are available upon request. The availability of the additional messages is indicated via the BCCH. The WTRU may transmit a request for one or more of the additional messages.

Abstract: A first allocation of physical resources for uplink transmission is received over a downlink signaling channel. Data of a logical channel is received. A first block is transmitted over the first allocated physical resources in response to receipt of the data of the logical channel. A timer is initiated in response to transmission of the first block. In response to an expiration of the timer and not receiving a second allocation of physical resources, a first type of request from a plurality of types of requests is selected and the selected first type of request for the second allocation of physical resources is transmitted over an uplink signaling channel. The second allocation of physical resources is received in response to the transmitted first type of request. A second block is transmitted in response to the second allocation of physical resources over the second allocated physical resources.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may generate, on a condition that a scheduling request and an acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) or channel quality information (CQI) are to be transmitted, a message having the scheduling request and the ACK/NACK or the CQI. The message may be transmitted over a physical uplink control channel. The WTRU may determine whether scheduling request information, including buffer status, is to be transmitted. The scheduling request information may be transmitted as in-band information.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for providing compatible mapping for backhaul control channels, frequency first mapping of control channel elements (CCEs) to avoid relay-physical control format indicator channel (R-PCFICH) and a tree based relay resource allocation to minimize the resource allocation map bits. Methods and apparatus (e.g., relay node (RN)/evolved Node-B (eNB)) for mapping of the Un downlink (DL) control signals, Un DL positive acknowledgement (ACK)/negative acknowledgement (NACK), and/or relay-physical downlink control channel (R-PDCCH) (or similar) in the eNB to RN (Un interface) DL direction are described. This includes time/frequency mapping of above-mentioned control signals into resource blocks (RBs) of multimedia broadcast multicast services (MBMS) single frequency network (MBSFN)-reserved sub-frames in the RN cell and encoding procedures for these. Also described are methods and apparatus for optimizing signaling overheads by avoiding R-PCFICH and minimizing bits needs for resource allocation.

Abstract: A Node-B sends a polling message to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU sends an uplink synchronization burst in response to the polling message without contention. The Node-B estimates an uplink timing shift based on the synchronization burst and sends an uplink timing adjustment command to the WTRU. The WTRU then adjusts uplink timing based on the uplink timing adjustment command. Alternatively, the Node-B may send a scheduling message for uplink synchronization to the WTRU. The WTRU may send a synchronization burst based on the scheduling message. Alternatively, the WTRU may perform contention-based uplink synchronization after receiving a synchronization request from the Node-B. The WTRU may enter an idle state instead of performing a handover to a new cell when the WTRU moves to the new cell. A discontinuous reception (DRX) interval for the WTRU may be set based on activity of the WTRU.

A service entity may receive sensor events from a plurality of users, the sensor events corresponding to behavior data detected from the plurality of users, identify content creator candidates from among the plurality of users based on a pattern of events which correspond to sensor events received from an active user, select a content creator from among the content creator candidates based on a best match to the pattern of events, transmit a request for content of the selected content creator, deliver content created by the content creator to the active user, and monitor progress of the active user based on a playback of the content by the active user.

The WTRU may comprise a receiver configured to receive a data message via the WLAN in accordance with the capabilities of the WTRU. The data message may be received via the cellular network, having originated from another WTRU. The WTRU may also comprise a display configured to display the received data message.
