Abstract:
A WTRU may comprise a transmitter configured to transmit at least one registration message, to a cellular network using IP, which indicates support for VoIP via a WLAN. The transmitter may be configured to transmit an indication of supported messaging or other capabilities of the WTRU. The WTRU may comprise a receiver configured to receive a data message via the WLAN in accordance with the capabilities of the WTRU. The data message may be received via the cellular network, having originated from another WTRU. The WTRU may also comprise a display configured to display the received data message.
Abstract:
A multiple wireless access technology capable (WAT-capable) wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) includes a registration message generator configured to generate a registration message indicating that the WTRU is configured to communicate using an IEEE 802.11x technology. The WTRU also includes a transmitter configured to send the registration message via an IEEE 802.11x WLAN to a cellular network during registration with the cellular network, and a receiver configured to receive services from the cellular network via the WLAN. The registration message further indicates that the WTRU is configured to receive Short Message Service (SMS) messages from the cellular network via the WLAN. The WTRU receiver receives services that include Short Message Service (SMS) messages.
Abstract:
A method for operation by a wireless device may comprise transmitting a request for capability information to a WTRU. In response, the wireless device may receive the requested capability information from the WTRU. The capability information may include an indication of support for video conferencing and an indication of one or more supported messaging capabilities. Based on the supported messaging capabilities, the wireless device may transmit a data message to the WTRU.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus may be used for network management via MAC measurements. The measurements may include WTRU uplink traffic loading measurement, and an AP service loading measurement. The measurements may be applicable to at least to layers 1 and 2 as applied to, for example, 802.11k in the context of OFDM and CDMA 2000 systems, but may be applicable to other scenarios as well. A method for determining and transmitting congestion information may be provided for a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) system. The method and apparatus may be used for managing congestion when congestion is detected. The method and apparatus may be used in wireless systems that use a Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) mechanism. The methods may be implemented in wireless transmit/receive units (WTRU)s and access points (AP)s of various forms.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are used for providing assistance data to wireless transmit/receive units (WTRU)s. The assistance data may include information regarding neighboring access points (AP)s. The assistance data may be transmitted to WTRUs using multicast, broadcast, and/or point-to-point signaling. The assistance data may be used to facilitate ring and handover of WTRUs from one AP to another.
