A backlight assembly includes a receiving container, a light guide plate, a light source unit, an optical member and a panel-guiding member. The receiving container includes a bottom plate and a sidewall extended from an edge portion of the bottom plate. The light source unit includes a light source generating light and disposed at side face of the light guide plate, and a light reflecting cover that covers the light source to reflect the light generated from the light source toward the side face. The optical member is disposed over the light guide plate. The panel-guiding member has a first plate combined with the sidewall of the receiving container, and a second plate extended from the first plate such that the second plate covers a portion of the optical member and is spaced apart from an upper face of the optical member. Therefore, warpage and cleavage of the optical member are prevented.

The present invention provides a backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display including the backlight assembly, where the liquid crystal display device is slim, lightweight, and requires low manufacturing costs because the device integrates a bottom chassis and a lamp cover. The bottom chassis includes an accommodating portion for mounting a light guide plate, an optical sheet, and a reflection sheet; an inner sidewall for accommodating the light guide plate, the optical sheet, and the reflection sheet; and a lamp cover, where both ends of the accommodating portion are bent to enclose the lamp.

A liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal display panel, a light guiding plate provided behind the liquid crystal display panel, a light source, which is provided on at least one lateral side of the light guiding plate, comprising a tamp body to emit light and lamp holders located at opposite ends of the lamp body, a holder cover which covers the lamp holders, and a lamp body cover separated from the holder cover and provided around the tamp body for reflecting light from the lamp body into the light guiding plate.

A connector that is capable of reducing defects in display apparatuses is presented. The connector includes a body, a plurality of terminals and a cover. The body has a base and a sidewall. The terminals are disposed on the body and arranged to make an electrical connection with the electrical circuit when the electrical circuit is received by the body. The cover includes a rotation axis, a fixing portion extending from the rotation axis such that the fixing portion is substantially parallel to the base of the body, and a protrusion portion protruding from the rotation axis substantially perpendicularly to the base of the body. The connector prevents electrical discharge from the flexible printed circuit board to the electrical circuit and prevents physical damage to the electrical circuit. Therefore, defect rate decreases and a yield of a display apparatus increases.

A backlight assembly, a display apparatus having the backlight assembly, and a method of assembling the backlight assembly are disclosed for embodiments. For example, a backlight assembly may include a receiving container which includes a first receiving member that receives a lamp and a portion of a light guide plate and a second receiving member that receives a remaining portion of the light guide plate. A reflection sheet is disposed between the light guide plate and the receiving container and elongated to cover the lamp. An adhesive is disposed between the reflection sheet and the receiving container and includes a heat-bondable material to adhere the reflection sheet to the receiving container when heat is applied thereto. Accordingly, the reflection sheet may be prevented from being wrinkled due to heat generated from the lamp, thereby enhancing assemblability of the backlight assembly.

A backlight assembly that does not use a bottom chassis is presented. The absence of bottom chassis reduces manufacturing cost, simplifies the assembly process, and facilitates heat dissipation. The backlight assembly includes a lamp, a light guide plate, a mold frame and a securing mold. The lamp unit includes a lamp that generates light and a lamp cover that partially encloses the lamp. The light guide plate receives the light from the lamp unit and guides the light toward the front of the backlight assembly. The mold frame receives the lamp unit and the light guide plate through an open portion. The securing mold is coupled to the lamp unit and combines with the mold frame to secure the first lamp unit. The backlight assembly relies on one mold frame to hold its components together.

Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device of which overall size and weight can be minimized. The liquid crystal display device has a light generating unit for generating a light. A light guiding plate guides the light to a display unit for displaying an image. A reflection plate is disposed under the light guiding plate for reflecting the light to the light guiding plate. A receiving container receives the reflection plate, the light guiding plate and the light generating unit. At least one boss is formed on a bottom of the receiving container for preventing the light generating unit from being moved by guiding a position of the light generating unit. Accordingly, the number of the parts installed in the liquid crystal display device can be reduced, and the manufacturing cost can be decreased because the manufacturing process is simplified in comparison with the liquid crystal display device including a separate lamp cover.
