Abstract:
A temperature recorder comprises a sensing cell which comprises a reactant mixture. The reactant mixture comprises a liquid crystalline material, a reactive monomer, and an initiator configured to initiate cross-linking of the reactive monomer and thereby form a sensing material which provides a record of the temperature of the sensing cell when cross-linking occurs. The sensing material comprises a cross-linked network dispersed within the liquid crystalline material, the cross-linked network being formed from the reactive monomer. The sensing cell additionally comprises first and second electrically conductive electrodes having a spaced relationship there between and being connectable to an electric property measuring device arranged to measure an electric property of the sensing material.
Abstract:
A holder for an oblong-shaped device is provided. The holder can be a docking station for a media device and a keyboard. The holder can include a mounting tray and a mounting bracket assembly arranged on the mounting tray. The mounting bracket assembly can be configured such that the oblong-shaped device is securable to the mounting tray in both (i) a first position where a longitudinal axis of the oblong-shaped device extends substantially horizontally, and (ii) a second position where the longitudinal axis of the oblong-shaped device extends substantially vertically while the mounting tray is kept in a substantially upright position.

Abstract:
An audio signal is received that might include keyboard noise and speech. The audio signal is digitized and transformed from a time domain to a frequency domain. The transformed audio is analyzed to determine whether there is likelihood that keystroke noise is present. If it is determined there is high likelihood that the audio signal contains keystroke noise, a determination is made as to whether a keyboard event occurred around the time of the likely keystroke noise. If it is determined that a keyboard event occurred around the time of the likely keystroke noise, a determination is made as to whether speech is present in the audio signal around the time of the likely keystroke noise. If no speech is present, the keystroke noise is suppressed in the audio signal. If speech is detected in the audio signal or if the keystroke noise abates, the suppression gain is removed from the audio signal.
Abstract:
A feed module is provided for an array antenna. The feed module comprises a multi-layer printed circuit board (PCB) feed structure for coupling signals between connections to transmitters or receivers and connection points for connecting to antenna elements of the array antenna. The multi-layer PCB feed structure comprises a body portion, incorporating coupling components, and a number of line sections for connecting to elements of the array antenna. The planar layers of the multi-layer PCB are arranged to be mounted substantially perpendicular to a planar array of antenna elements of the array antenna when the feed module is integrated therewith.
Abstract:
In various embodiments of the present invention, documents (eg, PDFs) are converted into HTML 5 (and CSS 3) formats and integrated into existing HTML 5 web pages to preserve the original embedded fonts. The fonts can also be integrated or embedded (e.g., via the standard HTML “iframe” tag) into other web pages. The original appearance of the source document is maintained, the text is preserved as searchable text, and the document is integrated into a web page that can be searched, zoomed, scrolled, and printed utilizing standard web browser controls. A significantly increased “ad inventory” is thereby enabled, wherein advertisements can be integrated between pages, or even within a page. Moreover, the resulting document can be passively shared with members of a user's external social networks (including those within the host website), along with other activities and behaviors performed by the user on the hosting website.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a tracking system comprised in a receiver, which tracking system is operable to track rapid changes in frequency and phase offset. The tracking system comprises a first system operable to perform a pilot-based phase and frequency tracking. The tracking system also comprises a second system operable to perform data-based phase and frequency tracking. The tracking system also comprises a control means connected to said first system and to said second system, which control means is operable to gradually reduce the effect of said first system, i.e. said pilot-based phase and frequency tracking.
Abstract:
Described is a technology by which a speech recognizer is adapted to perform in noisy environments using linear spline interpolation to approximate the nonlinear relationship between clean speech, noise, and noisy speech. Linear spline parameters that minimize the error the between predicted noisy features and actual noisy features are learned from training data, along with variance data that reflect regression errors. Also described is compensating for linear channel distortion and updating noise and channel parameters during speech recognition decoding.
Abstract:
A polar modulator including a signal converter configured to provide a phase signal and an amplitude signal based on at least one received signal is disclosed. A digital-to-analog converter is coupled to the signal converter, the digital-to-analog converter configured to receive an augmented signal, wherein a polarity of the augmented signal is selected to minimize an absolute phase change for sequential signals. A signal mixer is coupled to the digital-to-analog converter to receive an analog signal generated from the augmented signal.
Abstract:
Described is a audio signal processing technology in which an adaptive beamformer processes input signals from microphones based on an estimate received from a pre-filter. The adaptive beamformer may compute its parameters (e.g., weights) for each frame based on the estimate, via a magnitude-domain objective function or log-magnitude-domain objective function. The pre-filter may include a time invariant beamformer and/or a non-linear spatial filter, and/or may include a spectral filter. The computed parameters may be adjusted based on a constraint, which may be selectively applied only at desired times.
