Abstract:
A system enables inspection of an optical connector. The system includes a positioning subassembly, an electronic sensor (e.g., a scanner, a camera, etc.), and a controller coupled to the positioning subassembly and the electronic sensor. The controller is configured to position the electronic sensor over the optical connector, activate the electronic sensor to obtain a set of electronic signals which defines a set of current images of the optical connector, and electronically generate a result based on the set of electronic signals. The result indicates an attribute of the optical connector. Accordingly, the system is capable of inspecting the optical connector in a repeatable and non-subjective manner.
Abstract:
A system and process for directing a laser beam within a space is presented. The system includes a pointing device which periodically outputs orientation data indicative of the direction it is pointing and a cursor device which projects a laser beam. The orientation data is used to compute the direction the pointing device is pointing in terms of yaw and pitch angles. The laser beam is directed to locations in the space relative to the amount of movement of the pointing device. In an absolute mode, the pointed device and the laser beam of the cursor device are pointed at the same location in the space, whereas in a relative mode, the pointing device does not point at the same location as the laser beam. The position of the laser can be used to select a variety of hardware devices known to be in a room for future control actions.

The device is powered by a battery and further comprises a driver circuit to control the electroluminescent panel and switching means to engage and disengage the battery for selective operation of the light source.
Abstract:
A system and process for controlling common information displays, referred to as shared displays, is presented. The system and process allows multiple modes of input using a set of modules that accept and display data from a variety of sources. Input modules are able to understand data from a single mode of communication and to be able to generate messages as output accordingly. An optional translation module takes discrete message units and converts them into commands or requests that can be processed by a logic module. The logic module includes any application that is running on the shared display. A layout module lays out the information output by the logic module and a display module takes the layout data and converts the information to a form that can be readily displayed on a display device.
Abstract:
A system and process for selecting objects in an ubiquitous computing environment where various electronic devices are controlled by a computer via a network connection and the objects are selected by a user pointing to them with a wireless RF pointer. By a combination of electronic sensors onboard the pointer and external calibrated cameras, a host computer equipped with an RF transceiver decodes the orientation sensor values transmitted to it by the pointer and computes the orientation and 3D position of the pointer. This information, along with a model defining the locations of each object in the environment that is associated with a controllable electronic component, is used to determine what object a user is pointing at so as to select that object for further control actions.
Abstract:
In many embodiments, a relationship management system includes a relationship management server system that identifies an objective with respect to an entity defined by a customer relationship management (CRM) service, identifies a first set of contacts associated with the objective, aggregates event information associated with the first set of contacts, scores the objective based upon event information associated with the first set of contacts to generate at least one engagement score, and provides recommendation data to the CRM service from which a task is created within the CRM service associated with at least one contact in the first set of contacts based upon the at least one engagement score.
Abstract:
A high temperature measurement probe comprises an elongate probe body having a measuring head which in use is located in a hot fluid flow. The probe further comprises a thermocouple extending along the interior of the probe body to terminate at a temperature-sensing thermocouple junction inside the measuring head. The probe body has internal passages for circulation of a coolant fluid therein. The measuring head contains a channel, one end of the channel forming an inlet for receiving hot fluid from the hot fluid flow and another end of the channel forming an outlet for discharging the hot fluid received at the inlet. Between the inlet and the outlet a section of the channel extends along the length direction of the probe body. The thermocouple runs along the section of the channel with the thermocouple junction proximate the upstream end of the section.
Abstract:
An ear-fitting headphone restraint system includes an attachment assembly configured to be coupled to a portion of a stem of an ear-fitting headphone. The ear-fitting headphone is configured to be positioned against an ear canal of an ear. The system also includes a brace assembly coupled to the attachment assembly and configured to restrain the ear-fitting headphone against the ear canal by creating compression forces. The compression forces include a first compression force between the ear-fitting headphone and the ear canal. The compression forces further include a second compression force between a concha of the ear and the brace assembly. A first side of the brace assembly is configured to be positioned on a portion of the concha, and the attachment assembly is operable to transmit the first compression force and the second compression force between the brace assembly and the ear-fitting headphone.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed toward a system and process that controls a group of networked electronic components using a multimodal integration scheme in which inputs from a speech recognition subsystem, gesture recognition subsystem employing a wireless pointing device and pointing analysis subsystem also employing the pointing device, are combined to determine what component a user wants to control and what control action is desired. In this multimodal integration scheme, the desired action concerning an electronic component is decomposed into a command and a referent pair. The referent can be identified using the pointing device to identify the component by pointing at the component or an object associated with it, by using speech recognition, or both. The command may be specified by pressing a button on the pointing device, by a gesture performed with the pointing device, by a speech recognition event, or by any combination of these inputs.
Abstract:
A 3-D imaging system for recognition and interpretation of gestures to control a computer. The system includes a 3-D imaging system that performs gesture recognition and interpretation based on a previous mapping of a plurality of hand poses and orientations to user commands for a given user. When the user is identified to the system, the imaging system images gestures presented by the user, performs a lookup for the user command associated with the captured image(s), and executes the user command(s) to effect control of the computer, programs, and connected devices.
