Abstract:
The invention is directed toward a magnetic valve reader used as an indicator tool. The magnetic valve reader determines a location and an orientation for a magnetic indicator device to indicate a device setting of an implantable medical device. The implantable medical device includes the magnetic indicator device coupled to a valve on the implantable medical device. External magnetic fields, specifically the Earth's magnetic field, may interfere with the compass and create an incorrect device setting indication. The electronic reader estimates the external magnetic fields to subtract the estimate from received data to minimize any influence that external magnetic field has on the accuracy of the device setting measurement.
Abstract:
An apparatus for growing diffraction quality, protein crystals by vapor diffusion techniques. The apparatus includes a plurality of equilibrating solution reservoirs each having a side wall terminating in a top wall disposed in a first plane; a column disposed within each of the equilibrating solution reservoirs, each column having a protein solution receptacle including a side wall terminating in a top wall disposed in a second plane spaced from the first plane; and a cover having a non-greasy adhesive on one surface therof for sealable engagement with the top walls of the equilibrating solution reservoirs for sealing the reservoirs relative to atmosphere.
Abstract:
A roller device, including a first tube having a first diameter, and a through-bore having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter, the through-bore extending through and concentric with the first tube, a first rod having a third diameter smaller than the second diameter, a first end, and a second end, where the second end of the first rod is operatively arranged to telescopingly engage with the through-bore of the first tube, a second rod having a fourth diameter equal to the third diameter, a first end and a second end, where the first end of the second rod is operatively arranged to telescopingly engage with the through-bore of the first tube, at least one roller arranged to rotate about the first tube, and a first handle fixedly secured to the first end of the first rod.
Abstract:
A system and method for the integration of databases in a multi-tenant cloud environment. The method includes specific systems that integrate MS SQL and other database software with a cloud based infrastructure as a service platform, specifically OpenStack Nova. This method also includes certain optimization and rebalancing innovations to maximize databases in a cloud environment.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to a system with multiple computing hosts each having a hypervisor to provide a virtual environment for the host and one or more containers each including a database instance and at least one database. These databases, and the database instance can be provided as a service to a user of a multi-tenant environment.
Abstract:
A probe structure for an electronic device is provided. In one aspect, the probe structure includes an electrically insulating carrier having one or more contact structures traversing a plane thereof. Each contact structure includes an elastomeric material having an electrically conductive layer running along at least one surface thereof continuously through the plane of the carrier. The probe structure includes one or more other contact structures adapted for connection to a test apparatus.
Abstract:
Techniques for forming enhanced electrical connections are provided. In one aspect, an electrical connecting device comprises an electrically insulating carrier having one or more contact structures traversing a plane thereof. Each contact structure comprises an elastomeric material having an electrically conductive layer running along at least one surface thereof continuously through the plane of the carrier.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of a biological interface system and related methods are disclosed. The system may comprise a sensor comprising a plurality of electrodes for detecting multicellular signals emanating from one or more living cells of a patient and a processing unit configured to receive the multicellular signals from the sensor and process the multicellular signals to produce a processed signal. The processing unit may be configured to transmit the processed signal to a controlled device that is configured to receive the processed signal. The system is configured to perform an integrated patient training routine to generate one or more system configuration parameters that are used by the processing unit to produce the processed signal.
Abstract:
A hidden antenna system is disclosed. The hidden antenna system includes an external vehicle component, such as, an article carrier. The article carrier includes a removable portion attached to a fixed portion that defines a cavity. An antenna element is housed within the cavity in the article carrier. According to an embodiment, an end cap structure that elevates and supports a side rail over a vehicle roof includes the removeable portion and fixed portion. According to an embodiment, the article carrier includes a first and second cavity that houses a first and second antenna element, respectively, within the first and second cavities, such that the at least two antennta elements operate in a diversity application.
