Abstract: A system is disclosed for minimizing damage to a compact light assembly having a battery, a light and an on-off switch. An outer package snugly holds an inner package formed with a series of spaced-apart slots. A light assembly is snugly frictionally held in each slot to protect the light assembly from damage due to shipping and/or rough handling. The packaging system also prevents the unintended activation of the on-off switch due to rough handling.

Abstract: A lightweight plastic baton includes a hollow cylindrical body which telescopically supports a flexible cylindrical plastic baton shaft. One or more slideways support and concentrically center the baton shaft within the hollow body. A flashlight having a strobed light operating mode is coupled to the baton body to provide a less than lethal deterrent to a potential assailant. A radially movable elastic switch cover is mounted substantially flush with the outer surface of the flashlight to prevent inadvertent actuation of one of several selectable flashlight operating modes.

Abstract: The performance of chemical glow lights is enhanced by the provision of a battery-powered light-emitting diode (LED). The LED can be provided inside a pouch containing chemicals which, when mixed together, produce a glowing light. Multiple pouches can be provided in strip form as well as in individual form with varying shapes and sizes. Surfaces coated with light-activated photochemicals can be illuminated with one or more LEDs thereby causing such surfaces to produce a chemical glow for extended periods of time.

Abstract: A compact lighting assembly includes a circuit board having a battery, a light, a switching circuit and a push button switch selectively powering the light with the battery via the switching circuit. The operating life of the compact lighting assembly is increased by using a rechargeable battery charged by a photovoltaic device such as a solar cell. Even greater operating life is achieved with the use of a light-actuated switch, such as a photocell or photodiode, which limits or cuts off battery draw and illumination of the light in daylight or lighted ambient conditions and enables illumination of the light in dark ambient conditions such as nighttime and low light environments.

Abstract: An integral battery, light and light switch assembly can be removably fitted within a light-transmitting pocket on an article of clothing, such as a glove. Abstract: Portable projectable infrared lights are used to mark and illuminate dark areas such as rooms in a building or cells in a prison. The lights cannot be seen with the unaided eye but are brilliantly visible with the aid of night vision goggles and similar infrared receivers and light transducers which convert infrared light to visible light. In those cases where potentially hostile individuals are equipped with night vision apparatus, the infrared lights can be used to temporarily blind, stun and/or disorient them.

Abstract: A flashlight is provided with an end cap which carries an axially-actuated switch for turning the flashlight on and off with a convenient one-handed operation. Abstract: A multifunction flashlight includes an audio recorder, a video recorder and a flashlight having one or more operating modes. The flashlight includes an audio microphone secured within a water-tight interior compartment in the body of the flashlight.
