Abstract: A computing node to implement a federation management entity associated with a federated MEC network includes a NIC and processing circuitry coupled to the NIC. The processing circuitry is configured to detect a request for a MEC service, the request originating from a MEC application instantiated on a first MEC host within a first MEC system of the federated MEC network. A second MEC system of the federated MEC network is selected, which includes a second MEC host providing the MEC service. A set of common credentials for secure communication between the first and second MEC systems is determined. A response to the request is generated for communication to the first MEC system via the NIC. The response includes the set of common credentials and identification information of a MEC management entity in the second MEC system. The MEC management entity provides access to the MEC service.

Abstract: An architecture to allow the translation or conversion of short-range direct communications between devices with different radio access, such as in a V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communication context, is disclosed. In an example, a translation process, such as is performed by a mobile/multi-access edge computing (MEC) communication entity, includes: obtaining or accessing, at a translation function, a communication message (e.g., IP message) provided from a first device operating with a first radio access technology (e.g., LTE C-V2X), the message addressed to a second device operating with a second radio access technology (e.g., IEEE 802.11p or DSRC/ITS-G5); converting the communication message, with the translation function, into a format compatible with the second radio access technology; and initiating a transmission of the translated communication message, from the translation function, to the second device using the second radio access technology.

Abstract: Embodiments herein may include systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media, for a multi-access edge computing (MEC) system. An apparatus for MEC may include a communication interface, a local cost measurements module, and a service allocation module. The communication interface may receive, from a UE, a request for a service to be provided to the UE. The local cost measurements module may collect a set of local cost measurements for the service. The service allocation module may determine to allocate the service to a MEC host based on an allocation policy related to a cost for the MEC host to provide the service or a cost for a service provider to provide the service in view of the one or more local cost measurements. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Abstract: Various systems and methods are described implementing a multi-access edge computing (MEC) based system to realize MEC application registration and application data functions for MEC frameworks. In an example, operations are performed at a MEC orchestrator to maintain a registry of applications within a MEC system or among a federation of MEC systems, with the MEC orchestrator performing operations including: identifying, based on the communications with a plurality of MEC hosts, a plurality of applications provided by the MEC hosts in the MEC system (or, by applications provided by a plurality of MEC hosts in a federation); storing and synchronizing application information for the plurality of applications in a registry; and communicating the application information from the registry to an entity of the MEC system or to an entity federated with the MEC system.

Abstract: Approaches for Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V), and Autonomous Vehicles Distributed Networks (AVDN) functions in a MEC infrastructure are discussed. In various examples, operations and network configurations are described that use a service in an AVDN, including: identifying a service condition (e.g., based on a state of a service and connectivity to an instance of the service); establishing a connection in the AVDN in response to the service condition (e.g., using vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) or Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) network communications to the AVDN); and performing a service operation with the service via the AVDN.
