Abstract:
Shearing structure for materials' reduction equipment wherein a scissor-type shearing function is preserved, as between the blades and cutter bars used, from an initial shearing position throughout passage of the blade tip toward, at, and past the shearing edge of associated anvil or cutter bar structure. Each blade tip is provided with an apex, the same mating with an apex recess in the cutter bar structure which defines an outermost extremity of the blade travel path through such cutter bar structure.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a multilayered integrated backlight illumination assembly for an LCD display comprising a substrate for providing structural and functional support to the assembly, a bottom reflector provided on the substrate and a plurality of solid state light sources provided in an opening of the bottom reflector for providing a point light source. The invention further provides a plurality of primary light films having light redirecting areas provided between the plurality of solid state light sources for redirecting and spreading the point light source to a uniform plane of light, a plurality of secondary light films having light redirecting areas provided between the plurality of solid state light sources for redirecting and spreading the point light source to a uniform plane of light and a binding means for binding the primary and secondary light films together. Further, the invention provides a top diffuser for diffusing the uniform plane of light and wherein the plurality of light films has a thickness between 0.1 mm to 1.0 mm and a bending stiffness between 50 to 1200 millinewtons.

Abstract:
A display comprises a light source and a light redirecting polymeric film containing a structured surface on at least one side of the film and bearing a polymeric coating over at least part of the structured surface wherein the coating exhibits a variable thickness.
Abstract:
A process of compositing two or more separate images comprising: (a) imagewise exposing a color negative photographic recording material to a subject in front of a uniformly colored screen background, wherein the photographic recording material comprises a support bearing red light, green light, and blue light sensitive color records, and at least one distributed red light absorbing compound in an amount such as to reduce the sensitivity of the red light sensitive color record by at least 40%, and the light sensitivities of the green light sensitive color record and the blue light sensitive color record are each reduced by less than 20% by the presence of any distributed light absorbing compounds, (b) forming a color negative image of the subject and screen background by developing the exposed photographic material with a color developing agent, (c) separating the subject image of the color negative from the screen background image, and (d) compositing the separated subject image with a second image. Photographic elements for use in such process are also disclosed. The invention eliminates or substantially reduces red record fringe problems without significantly effecting granularity in the blue and green color records.
Abstract:
A means and method of enhancing the damage tolerance of adhesive bonds by introducing gaps in the adhesive to divide the adhesive layer into discrete regions. The gaps are created by placing strips of barrier material between the two adherends before the adhesive is put in place and cured. If the two adherends begin to debond along the interface between one of the adherends and the adhesive, the gap arrests the debonding process.
Abstract:
An ionomer suture exhibits excellent properties. The suture may be monofilament or multifilament, and methods of making and using the suture are disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for suturing a wound using a suture manufactured from polyamide ester having the reaction product of at least one molecular weight diols; at least one dicarboxylic acids and at least one polyoxyalkylene diimide diacid to create a wound closure.
Abstract:
A polyamide monofilament suture of reduced energy and/or increased knot security is prepared by extruding a monofilament from polyamide resin, stretching the monofilament and annealing the stretched monofilament.
Abstract:
A higher order polyamide monofilament suture exhibits improved properties such as greater resistance to creep, greater knot security and greater chemical stability in aqueous environments.
