Abstract: A fire extinguisher includes a source conduit, a flow control device connected to the source conduit, and a supply conduit. The supply conduit is connected to the flow control device, is fluidly coupled therethrough to the source conduit, and is thermally coupled to the source conduit to communicate heat between pressurized fire suppression agent entering the flow control device through the source conduit and expanded fire suppression agent issuing from the flow control device through the supply conduit. Fire suppression systems and methods of controlling flow of fire suppressant agents are also described.

Abstract: A fire extinguisher discharge nozzle is provided and includes sidewalls and a biasing element. The sidewalls define an aperture through which a medium(s) is dischargeable and are adjustable between multiple first and multiple second positions associated with dilated and constricted conditions of the aperture, respectively. The biasing element is configured to bias the sidewalls toward assuming one of the multiple first or multiple second positions. The sidewalls are drivable toward assuming the other one of the multiple first or multiple second positions in opposition to bias applied by the biasing element in accordance with a characteristic of the medium(s).

The systems also includes a second nozzle within the region to perform discharge of the fire suppression agent in a second direction within the region. The discharge in the first direction by the first nozzle and the discharge in the second direction by the second nozzle generate and maintain a vortex of the fire suppression agent that occupies the region with rotational flow.
