Abstract:
An apparatus for perforating an earth formation from a borehole having a housing, a detonator assembly, explosive material for producing the implosion forces and a metal liner of implosive geometry. The detonator assembly includes a predetermined pattern of precision electronic detonators based on exploding foil initiator, exploding bridge wire, spark gap or laser technology to simultaneously produce multiple initiation points of the explosive material for enhancing the implosion forces.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns phenylcyclopentylacetamides and phenylcyclopropylcarboxamides and analogues thereof, processes for preparing them, pharmaceutical compositions containing them and their use as pharmaceuticals.
Abstract:
A method, system, and medium for performing a security analysis of a system, which is comprised of components and paths wherein a user identifies the components and paths of a system, associates a set of predetermined requirements to the components and paths of a system, and wherein the user selects security services to satisfy the requirements of the paths and components of the system. In at least some embodiments of the invention, the method comprises the publication of reports detailing the components, paths, requirements, and security services of a system as well as the rationale that a security service satisfies the requirements mapped to the components and paths of the system.
Abstract:
Smokable rods of cigarettes are manufactured using wrapping materials that incorporate at least one fibrous material (e.g., flax fibers, hardwood pulp fibers and/or softwood pulp fibers) at least one filler material (e.g., calcium carbonate in particulate form). The wrapping materials possess multi-layer coatings. The wrapping materials possess coatings in the form of series of spaced apart bands, each band possessing a series of layers. At least one of the coating layers can have a filler material dispersed or suspended within a film-forming material of that layer.
Abstract:
The present invention provides 1,4 substituted piperazines, 1,4 substituted piperidines, and 1-substituted, 4-alkylidenyl piperidines compounds. The compounds of the invention are dual acting molecules having both leukotriene inhibition properties as well as antihistaminergic properties. The compounds of the invention are useful for treating conditions in which there is likely to be a histamine and/or leukotriene component. These conditions include preferably asthma, seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, sinusitus, conjunctivitis, food allergy, scombroid poisoning, psoriasis, urticaria, pruritus, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic obsructive pulmonary disease, thrombotic disease and otitis media. Also provided are methods of treating asthma and rhinitis by administering an effective asthma and rhinitis-relieving amount of the compounds to a subject in need thereof.
Abstract:
The invention encompasses a locus control subregion that possesses chromatin opening domain activity, the activity conferring reproducible activation of tissue-specific expression on a linked transgene to a non-physiological level when the transgene is integrated in single copy in the genome of a host cell.
