Abstract: A ventilator adaptor for switching between ventilator devices while maintaining respiratory support to a patient is described. The ventilator adaptor has a first movable element with a first inlet and a second inlet, and a second movable element movably attached to the first movable element and with an outlet. The outlet has an inner diameter of 14.5-15.5 mm, preferably 15 mm, and the first inlet and the second inlet have an outer diameter of 14.5-15.5 mm, preferably 15 mm. The outlet is in fluid communication with the first inlet in a first position or with the second inlet in a second position by moving the second movable element relative to the first movable element thereby aligning the outlet with the first inlet or the second inlet. The outlet may be attached to an endotracheal tube in order to form a ventilation assembly.

Abstract: A preflushing unit (10) preflushes a breathing gas circuit (210) of a closed-circuit respirator (200). A basic body (20) has an inlet port (22), feeding breathing gas from a breathing gas supply (220), an outlet port (24) discharging breathing gas into the breathing circuit, and a flow section (32) fluid connecting a valve chamber (30). A valve body (40) with a sealing surface (42) is arranged in the valve chamber (30). An elastomer body (50) with a counter-sealing surface (52) in the valve chamber, fluid tight separates the flow section from a control section (34). The counter-sealing surface acts with a sealing force against the valve body for sealing the flow section. A control port (26) of the basic body provides a controlled feed of breathing gas from the breathing gas supply into the control section for pressure equalization between the flow section and the control section.

Abstract: Arrangements, systems, and methods to deliver supplemental oxygen to a patient are disclosed. An arrangement to deliver supplemental oxygen to a patient includes a source of supplemental oxygen, an outlet station, a sensor, and an automated oxygen monitoring system. The outlet station includes at least one valve fluidly coupled to the supplemental oxygen source and configured to permit flow of supplemental oxygen therethrough. The sensor is directly attachable to the patient and configured to provide a signal indicative of a measured blood oxygen saturation level of the patient. The automated oxygen monitoring system communicatively coupled to the sensor and in fluid communication with a tube adapted for administration of supplemental oxygen to the patient.

Abstract: A breathable gas inlet control device permits flow regulation at the inlet of a flow generator for a respiratory treatment apparatus such as a ventilator or continuous positive airway pressure device. The device may implement a variable inlet aperture size based on flow conditions. In one embodiment, an inlet flow seal opens or closes the inlet to a blower in accordance with changes in pressure within a seal activation chamber near the seal. The seal may be formed by a flexible membrane. A controller selectively changes the pressure of the seal activation chamber by controlling a set of one or more flow control valves to selectively stop forward flow, prevent back flow or lock open the seal to permit either back flow or forward flow. The controller may set the flow control valves as a function of detected respiratory conditions based on data from pressure and/or flow sensors.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for delivery of therapeutic gas to patients, in need thereof, receiving breathing gas from a high frequency ventilator using at least enhanced therapeutic gas (e.g., nitric oxide, NO, etc.) flow measurement. At least some of these enhanced therapeutic gas flow measurements can be used to address some surprising phenomenon that may, at times, occur when wild stream blending therapeutic gas into breathing gas a patient receives from a breathing circuit affiliated with a high frequency ventilator. Utilizing at least some of these enhanced therapeutic gas flow measurements the dose of therapeutic gas wild stream blended into breathing gas that the patient receives can at least be more accurate and/or under delivery of therapeutic gas into the breathing gas can be avoided and/or reduced.

Abstract: An endotracheal device for mechanical ventilation of a patient includes a ventilation tube and a barrier. The ventilation tube includes a distal part, with a distal end, intended to be inserted into an airway of a patient, and a proximal part, with a proximal end, intended to be connected to a ventilation machine. The barrier is made of solid viscoelastic material, covers the ventilation tube in the distal area, and is configured to occupy, when inserted, the subglottic region, as well as the glottic region and also the supraglottic region of the larynx of the patient, for which reason the barrier has a variable cross section along the length thereof. The device provides greater safety and a lower incidence of complications in mechanical ventilation of patients.

Abstract: A respiratory device includes a blower having an inlet and an outlet, a patient interface, and a valve including a valve member that is rotatable through a first angular displacement in a first direction from a first position to a second position. The outlet of the blower is coupled to the patient interface so that positive pressure is provided to a patient's airway via the patient interface when the valve member is in the first position. The inlet of the blower is coupled to the patient interface so that negative pressure is provided to the patient's airway via the patient interface when the valve member is in the second position. The valve member is rotatably oscillated back and forth when the valve member is in the first position and when the valve member is in the second position so that oscillations in the positive pressure and negative pressure, respectively, are provided to the patient's airway.

Abstract: A respiratory humidification system includes a humidifier that is capable of electronic communication with one or more other components of the system thereby permitting transfer of data or control signals between the humidifier and other components of the system. In some systems, a flow generator, such as a ventilator, is provided to supply a flow of breathing gas. The humidifier and the flow generator are capable of electronic communication with one another. In some arrangements, an operating mode or parameter of the humidifier to be set or confirmed by the flow generator, either automatically or manually through a user interface of the flow generator. The humidifier can also utilize data provided by the flow generator or other system component, such as an incubator, to set or confirm an operating mode or parameter of the humidifier. In some arrangements, a user interface of the humidifier can display data from another system component, such as a nebulizer or pulse oximeter.
