Abstract: The invention relates to a respiratory system comprising a first patient interface for delivery of a first flow of gases to a patient, a second patient interface for delivery of a second flow of gases to the patient, and a device and/or sensing arrangement that is configure to facilitate a switching of the system between a first respiratory mode where the device allowing delivery of the first flow of gases to an outlet of the first patient interface when the second patient interface is absent from the patient, and a second respiratory mode where the device reducing or stopping delivery of the first flow of gases to the outlet of the first patient interface when the second patient interface is located together with the first patient interface upon the patient.

Abstract: A humidifier adaptor for evacuating fluid and/or debris from a ventilator system includes a housing having a base, a top, and at least one sidewall, which together define a chamber and an inlet in the base of the housing extending into the chamber. The inlet includes a first end configured to receive air from a humidifier, a second end in the chamber, and a sidewall. The second end of the inlet can be positioned to at least partially inhibit the fluid and/or debris from entering an interior portion of the inlet. The humidifier adaptor also includes a tangential outlet in the at least one sidewall of the housing through which the air flows substantially tangentially out of the chamber. The humidifier adaptor also includes a drain outlet in the base of the housing for removing fluid and/or debris from the ventilator system by evacuation through the chamber.

Abstract: A respiratory device includes a blower having an inlet and an outlet, a patient interface, and a valve including a valve member that is rotatable from a first position to a second position. The outlet of the blower is coupled to the patient interface so that positive pressure is provided to a patient's airway via the patient interface when the valve member is in the first position. The inlet of the blower is coupled to the patient interface so that negative pressure is provided to the patient's airway via the patient interface when the valve member is in the second position. The valve member is rotatably oscillated back and forth when the valve member is in the first position and when the valve member is in the second position so that oscillations in the positive pressure and negative pressure, respectively, are provided to the patient's airway.

Abstract: A rescue breathing apparatus is disclosed. Abstract: The invention belongs to the field of medical sciences and respiratory masks. It is a cardiopulmonary resuscitation device that delivers assisted ventilation via a foot- or compressor-controlled bellows mechanism. This device frees the use of the hand used to compress the conventional self-inflating Airway Mask Bag Unit (AMBU), so that the free hand can be used to fit the mask over the patient's face and reduce the mechanical fatigue generated by the manual compression of current mechanisms. The unit attaches to ventilation masks, can have a frequency meter and is compatible with accessories comprising conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices; inside it has a valve that controls the filling of the oxygen reservoir and the time at which oxygen is released to be supplied to the patient.

Abstract: A ventilator adaptor for switching between ventilator devices while maintaining respiratory support to a patient is described. The ventilator adaptor has a first movable element with a first inlet and a second inlet, and a second movable element movably attached to the first movable element and with an outlet. The outlet has an inner diameter of 14.5-15.5 mm, preferably 15 mm, and the first inlet and the second inlet have an outer diameter of 14.5-15.5 mm, preferably 15 mm. The outlet is in fluid communication with the first inlet in a first position or with the second inlet in a second position by moving the second movable element relative to the first movable element thereby aligning the outlet with the first inlet or the second inlet. The outlet may be attached to an endotracheal tube in order to form a ventilation assembly.

Abstract: Therapy gas delivery systems that provide run-time-to-empty information to a user of the system and methods for administering therapeutic gas to a patient. The therapeutic gas delivery system may include a gas pressure sensor attachable to a therapeutic gas source that communicates therapeutic gas pressure data to a therapeutic gas delivery system controller, a gas temperature sensor positioned to measure gas temperature in the therapeutic gas source that communicates therapeutic gas temperature data to the therapeutic gas delivery system controller, at least one flow controller that communicates therapeutic gas flow rate data to the therapeutic gas delivery system controller, at least one flow sensor that communicates flow rate data to the therapeutic gas delivery system controller, and at least one display that communicates run-time-to-empty to a user of the therapeutic gas delivery system. The therapeutic gas delivery system controller of the system includes a processor that executes an algorithm to calculate the run-time-to-empty from the data received from the gas pressure sensor, temperature sensor, flow controller and flow sensor, and directs the result to the display.
