Abstract: A valve whose casing has two coaxial passages and a chamber disposed between the passages and receiving a valving element movable between an open position in which the passages are free to communicate with one another and a closed position in which the passages are fully sealed from each other. The housing is separably connected with a casing for a tubular filter through which the fluid entering via one of the passages flows on its way toward the other passage when the valving element is held in the open position. The casing can be detached from the housing only when the valving element is held in the closed position to thus prevent leakage or spillage of fluid from the housing on detachment of the casing. The valving element can include a rotary body or a membrane and a displacing member which latter is reciprocable in the chamber to move the membrane against an annular seat of the housing.

Abstract: Filter for swimming pool water in which multiple operational modes including filtration, backwash and rinse modes are achieved with a valve structure affording positive sealing during operation, positive locking into mode, and adjustment between modes without frictionally wearing critical seals in the valve, and positive sealing at the waste discharge against air flow into the filter. [Also in Divisions B5 and F2] A molten thermoplastic material is delivered from an extruder to inlet passage 17 in adapter body 10 and is filtered by passage through either one or both of filtering screen packs 23, 24 before being delivered to outlet passage 20, which may communicate with an extruder die, the delivery of the liquid both to and from the screen packs being controlled by the setting of a single valve 15, 16 which is interposed within and between the adapter member 10 and the housing 14 containing the screen packs. The valve member (Figs. 4-8 not shown) comprises a cylindrical rotatable stem 16 having passages which co-operate with ports at three levels. The upper and lower levels respectively connect outlet 20 and inlet 17 to both or either one of the outlet and inlet sides of screen packs 23, 24, (positions 4, 5, 3, in Figs. 6, 8, not shown). In two further positions of the valve stem (positions 2, 6 in Figs. 6-8 not shown) while forward filtering flow is through one screen pack only, part of the effluent liquid is delivered in reverse flow through the other screen pack and is then delivered by an axially extending groove (49) in the valve stem 16 through an outlet passage 22, 21 leading to the open atmosphere, whereby accumulated contaminants are removed from the screen pack. In a final position of the valve stem (position 1 in Figs. 6-8) incoming liquid passes directly from the inlet 17 to outlet passage 22, 21, and there is no filtration. Screen packs 23, 24 are each mounted between a pair of perforated supporting plates 27, 28, the respective packs and their supporting plates being connected to removeable end plates 25, 26. An additional valve may be supplied in the drain passage 22, 21 in order to limit the fluid flow when a screen pack is being backwashed. The valve is turned by a handle operating through a gear train (Figs. 2, 3 not shown).

Abstract: A dual-zone showerhead includes a manifold having an external inlet, an internal outlet, an internal inlet, and first and second outlets. A valve is connected to the manifold and is transitional between first and second positions. In the first position, the valve facilitates fluid communication between the internal inlet and the first outlet. In the second position, the valve facilitates fluid communication between the internal inlet and the second outlet. A filter cartridge is engageable with the manifold and includes a housing having a filter inlet and a filter outlet. The housing is connectable with the manifold to place the filter inlet in fluid communication with the internal outlet on the manifold, and the filter outlet in fluid communication with the internal inlet on the manifold. A flow path extends within the filter cartridge from the filter inlet, through the filtration element, and then through the filter outlet.

Abstract: A multifunctional filter valve is provided. The multifunctional filter valve includes a valve body, a rotatable valve plate, a fixed valve plate, and a driving device.
