Abstract:
A filter device for filtering flowing liquids comprises a compressible filter medium in a vessel and a device by which the filter medium can be compressed by means of an actuation handle, so that impurities can be pressed out of the filter medium. In addition, the filter device contains a multipath regulator which can be adjusted for filtering, back-rinsing and clear-rinsing by means of three flow paths. It is also possible for the filter device to be outfitted exclusively with a multipath regulator or a compressing device.
Abstract:
A screen panel for a wood-chip digester, comprises a screen plate having a plurality of slots therein that are curved in the form of an arc. Each slot has a generally parallel-sided middle portion in the middle of the thickness of the screen plate, which middle portion has a width in the range of from 3 mm to 10 mm, and a portion that tapers out at an angle on each side of the middle portion, at a half-angle in the range of from 10null to 20null, for approximately one quarter of the thickness of the plate. All of the slots have their concave sides facing in the upstream direction of chip flow in the digester.
Abstract:
The present invention encompasses a process for producing synthetic hydrocarbon products in a reactor. The focus of the present invention is on a novel filtering system for separating synthetic hydrocarbon products from catalyst within the reactor. The filtering system of the present invention could also be used for a variety of similar processes where it is desirable to separate a solid from a liquid within the solid/liquid mixture. Finally, the present invention discloses a novel filter and a method for making the filter.
Abstract:
A filter medium for solid/liquid separation has a sheet of a metallic material or plastic. The sheet has a plurality of openings. The openings are slots having a slot width and are produced by drawing a drawn grid structure and subsequently mechanically plastically reverse-deforming the drawn grid structure.
Abstract:
A strainer for use with a dry hydrant having a fluid inlet comprises an inlet tube having a first end and a second end, the first end being substantially capped, and the second end being connected to the dry hydrant fluid inlet. A plurality of apertures are formed in the inlet tube and are disposed between the first end and the second end. The apertures are disposed in a substantially v-shaped pattern, whereby an apex of the substantially v-shaped pattern is spaced proximal to the second end. In one embodiment of the present invention, the apertures spaced proximal to the first end of the inlet member have diameters greater than diameters of the apertures spaced proximal to the second end of the inlet member. In operation in a dry hydrant system, the strainer provides for uniform suction zone throughout the inlet pipe, and provides uniform fluid drafting flow.
Abstract:
A band screen (1) for installation across a channel (2) containing a flowing liquid (6) comprising an endless belt of screening panels (19), each provided with inwardly extending leading and trailing edge walls (26) and so attached to the belt as to be pivotable relative thereto. Cam plates (28) on the sides of the panels (19) slide along inner and outer guide tracks to control the panel orientations around the belt, causing the leading edge walls (26) to form upwardly facing steps on the upgoing side on the screen and to subsequently flatten to facilitate screening.
Abstract:
A hydrodynamic device for generating negative pressure excursions in a pulp slurry during fine screening, includes at least one half-foil member disposed on a substantially cylindrical outer surface of a rotor. The rotor is mounted within and co-axial with a substantially cylindrical screen having a circumferentially continuous apertured zone to define an annular screening chamber between the rotor and the screen. The half-foil member is collectively at least axially co-extensive with the apertured zone and has a leading edge which, also collectively, is inclined at a spiral angle relative to the axis of the rotor such that, in one embodiment, during rotation, the leading edge of the half-foil member conducts large particles downwardly through the screening chamber. A selection of hydrodynamic foil configurations is provided in order to adapt to a wide range of pulp types and screening conditions.
Abstract:
A fluid conditioning device having a housing containing a fluid inlet and outlet and a removable fluid conditioner through which fluid passes from the inlet to the outlet and which removes matter from and/or adds matter to the fluid, and an improved seal between the housing and fluid conditioner for blocking passage of unconditioned fluid from the inlet to the outlet. The housing is constructed and arranged to receive different types of fluid conditioners, such as a porous cartridge which may serve to filter solids from and/or add a substance to the fluid, a filter bag and basket combination, and a reversible osmosis cartridge for removing molecular constituent form a fluid solution, such as the saline constituent from sea water.
Abstract:
In a screen for pressure sorters for fiber suspensions which is of rotationally symmetrical shape in relation to a screen axis and the screen wall of which is provided with screen opening channels connecting the screen inlet side with the screen outlet side and on its inlet and outlet sides with recesses into which the screen opening channels open, in order to improve the throughput capacity of the screen, to simplify its manufacture, to achieve good fatigue strength of the screen and to generate turbulences at the screen inlet side, each of the recesses on the inlet side extends over several screen opening channels and is in the form of a groove extending transversely to the circumferential direction of the screen, a recess is provided for each screen opening channel on the screen outlet side, and the largest width of the recesses on the outlet side is at least as large as the largest width of the grooves on the inlet side.
Abstract:
The screen cylinder includes a screening plate having contoured grooves along an inflow side and a backing cylinder having a plurality of openings therethrough and disposed on the outflow side of the screening cylinder. The contoured grooves are elongated in the axial direction and are closely circumferentially spaced one from the other about the screen cylinder. In one embodiment, circumferentially extending grooves are formed along the outflow side of the screening cylinder whereby pulp flows through the contoured grooves into the recesses and then through the openings of the backing cylinder. In another embodiment, the recesses are formed on the inflow side of the backing cylinder, the screening cylinder being provided with elongated slots along its outflow side in registry with the contoured slots. In this manner, increased flow capacity is provided. Additionally, the screening cylinder is removable when worn for replacement by a fresh screening cylinder which may then be secured to the backing cylinder.
