Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hydrated-lime-based composition, to a method for producing such a composition and to the use thereof for treating fumes or flue gases (by means of a dry or substantially dry treatment process), in particular to reduce the chlorine, sulphur and halogen compounds in exhaust gases or flue gases, especially acid flue gases. Said composition comprise a high surface area hydrated lime, a first additive selected from NaCl, Na2SO4 and CaCl2, a sodium compound selected from NaOH, Na2CO3 and NaI— and less than 5% by weight water.

Abstract:
The description relates to production of fly ash with properties suitable for use in Portland cement. The fly ash compositions will contain coal ash, water-insoluble copper compositions and metallic mercury adsorbed onto ash particles. In one aspect, the coal ash composition will have a total mercury content of from 0.1 to 2.0 ppm and the water-soluble mercury is less than 20% of the total mercury content. The process entails combusting coal to produce hot combustion gases containing fly ash, CO2, chlorine, and mercury, cooling the combustion gases and introducing into the combustion gases at a temperature of less than 1000° F., preferably within the range of from about 250° to about 900° F., a copper-based chloride remediator (CBCR), and collecting the fly ash which comprises insoluble copper compositions and water insoluble mercury compositions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a biodegradable polymer that is coupled to metal-(OH/CO3)n beads (hybrid POL/metal-(OH/CO3)n). The invention further relates to a container and a filtering agent comprising the hybrid POL/metal-(OH/CO3)n, and to the use of methods of hybrid POL/metal-(OH/CO3)n for reducing nitrogen compounds from an aqueous solution.
Abstract:
Methods of producing solid CO2 sequestering carbonate materials are provided. Aspects of the methods include introducing a divalent cation source into a flowing aqueous liquid (e.g., a bicarbonate rich product containing liquid) under conditions sufficient such that a non-slurry solid phase CO2 sequestering carbonate material is produced. Also provided are systems configured for carrying out the methods.
Abstract:
The preservation or extension of the life of oxygen perishable products such as fresh or cooked meats; fresh vegetables and fruits; dried vegetables, fruits and meats; packaged pharmaceuticals or biologicals; open and enclosed marketing display cases of meats, fruits and vegetables; and packaging, warehousing and transportation of meats, fruits, and vegetables is obtained by subjecting such products to an atmosphere obtained from gas permeable packets of an oxygen scavenging composition comprising a sodium carbonate mineral and one or more carboxylic acids. When the environment surrounding the oxygen perishable product is subjected to the packets of gaseous permeable oxygen scavenging compositions, oxygen is taken in by the scavenging composition and also the presence of carbon dioxide in the surrounding environment is enhanced thereby minimizing or eliminating the effect the oxygen on the oxygen perishable products.
Abstract:

Sorbent compositions containing halogen and calcium are added to coal to mitigate the release of sulfur and/or other harmful elements, including mercury, into the environment during combustion of coal containing natural levels of mercury.
Abstract:
A CO2 absorbent for exhaust gas capable of being repeatedly used in capturing and recycling of CO2 is provided. The CO2 absorbent for exhaust gas capturing CO2 included in exhaust gas is composed of solid materials including an active component at 5 to 70 wt %, a support at 5 to 70 wt %, an inorganic binder at 5 to 70 wt % and a recycling improver at 5 to 70 wt %. The CO2 absorbent for exhaust gas having such a composition meets the requirements for processes, including physical properties such as a spherical shape, an average particle size and size distribution, a tap density and attrition resistance, and has excellent CO2 absorbing capability and recycling capability. The carbon dioxide absorbent for exhaust gas satisfies physical characteristics such as spherical shape, average particle size and size distribution, tap density, attrition resistance and the like required for processes, and has excellent CO2 absorption and recycling capabilities.
Abstract:
An engineered process of manufacturing a carbon capturing agent calcium aluminum carbonate Ca—Al—CO3 includes steps of mixing, solid-liquid separation, drying and extrusion, crushing and conveying, and calcined molding. The acid bath of Ca+2 and Al+3 is mixed with the alkaline bath of Na2CO3 and NaOH while stirring to form slurry which are then subject to solid-liquid separation to obtain a filtrated cake. The filtrated cake is place into a drying and extrusion device to obtain granular material. The granular material is placed in a conveying and crushing equipment to obtain a powder material. The powder material is calcined at furnace for forming a Ca—Al—CO3, which is nano-layered composite with high porosity. Thereby, the preparation of a solid sorbent can be scale up under systematically controlled with yield of at least batches of kilograms used in medium-high temperature (400˜800° C.) CO2 capture.
