    Abstract: Provided is a maintenance device that performs maintenance of a recording head with a nozzle face on which an opening of a nozzle for ink discharge is provided. The maintenance device includes a scraper that scrapes ink that adheres to the nozzle face, and an ink receiver that receives ejected ink that is ejected through the nozzle and scraped ink that is scraped off by the scraper. The ink receiver includes a first face and a second face that are each inclined with respect to a horizontal plane. The ink receiver receives the ejected ink at least on the first face of the first face and the second face, and receives the scraped ink on the second face. A flowability of ink on the second face is greater than a flowability of ink on the second face.

    Abstract: A liquid ejection apparatus includes a liquid ejection unit with a plurality of nozzles and a corresponding plurality of actuators. A drive waveform generation circuit is configured to generate drive waveforms having different drive timings. An actuator drive circuit is configured to apply a first drive waveform to a first actuator in a liquid ejection operation and a second drive waveform to a second actuator in the liquid ejection operation during which the first and second actuators are to be driven at a same nominal time. The first driving waveform is different from the second drive waveform, and the first actuator is at a position electrically closer along a predetermined direction to a power supply electrode than is the second actuator.

    Abstract: A valve type nozzle controls discharge of liquid by opening and closing an discharge port by a valve element, the discharge port being configured to discharge the liquid, and the valve element being formed movably by applying a predetermined voltage to a piezoelectric element, whereby when the predetermined voltage is applied to the piezoelectric element, the valve element moves in a direction where the moving mechanism opens the discharge port when the piezoelectric element extends. This allows the liquid to be discharged. Further, when the application of the voltage to the piezoelectric element is released, the moving mechanism returns to an original shape, by which the valve element closes the discharge port is closed to prevent the discharge of the liquid.
